Just like the title says. Who has run this tire combination on the NBS trucks on stock wheels? Anyone?

And yes, I searched.... :drinking:

I had this size on my 05 since new. 48,000 miles ran great with no problems (spare was never on the ground...) and finally needed to replace. Discontinued size, could not find any "all terrain" type tread, in amy brand, in my area. Bought 285 75 16's instead. Good luck in your search... didn't need to adust anything (bars, trimming, etc.) for the 255 85 16's

Reply title should read 255 85 16

It would take a crank or trimming to fit. Just figure whatever it takes to fit 285s you could get away with a little less.

I'm reviving this because the 255/85 is a tire I'm considering on a set of stock 17" wheels..........assuming it's available at all in an offroad tire. To me it's a plus/plus over the 285/75/17 because it's narrower and taller. So you get a little more clearance and don't have as much of a rubbing issue.

If anyone has any pics or comments on a NBS truck with a 255/85 I'd love to hear from you.

I don't think they make a 255/85 17. Have you had any luck finding that size in a D or E load range? They make a 235/85 17. If you go back to PYO's you could run a 255/85 16. They'd look sweet.

You're right LA DMAX. They don't make a 255/85 anymore. I've been looking for 2 days now. Maybe they are out there for special order but that's probably not a good idea since finding one in a pinch would likely be a nightmare. I think it was popular a few years ago but I can't find them anywhere now.

However they do make a 255/80 (33"), which is only a little bit shorter than the 255/85. I'm not sure about load range though. I was hoping someone on here had some pics of the 255/85 or 255/80 even though I know these tire sizes aren't very popular. I like the idea of these size tires because you get the height increase for extra clearance and better looks purposes but you don't have to worry about fitment (tb cranking and fender mods) and it also wouldn't eat up a lot of MPG since it's not much wider than the stock 245s.

Yes I know I have an OBS, but I can tell you that I did have to trim a bit to get them to fit and I have my bars cranked a couple of turns (did that already for the 265s I had on previously). I like these tires, though mpg has dropped for city driving. Lost about 1mpg over the 265/75/16.

Losing 1 mpg isn't bad at all. My friend lost 3 mpg when he put his 285/75R17s on. I love the look of a fatter tire, but I'd #1 rather not do any modding and #2 don't want it to kill my mpg. I already get 11 - 12 mpg as it is. Going to 7 or 8 because of a fatter tire is unacceptable for me.

Good thinking, that's exactly why I got em.

Jeffster, what exactly did you have to trim? I don't mind zip tying back the liner and possibly doing the fender mod, but I really don't want to touch my front bumper/valence area.

So you can't really tell it in the picture but it is just the very bottom of the valance. It is just a very small piece that they ground back at an angle. My neighbor is a manager of the tire shop that put them on, so he took my truck to work one day and put them on for me and they had to trim it and if he hadn't told me, I probably wouldn't have noticed for a while. :p:

I didn't do any trimming.....yet. Tied back the parking brake cable on driver side and cranked the tbars 4 turns. Hopefully it keeps working.

Looks awesome Gene. Any trimming on the front valence? Those are KM2s right?
