I have a 2001 duramax with about 90,000 miles. My right rear wheel has a film of oil on it, i assume it is differential fluid. I'm sure it isn't brake fluid. I changed the differential oil at about 50,000 miles.
Can you tell me the possible cause and fix for the leak? Would this be covered by warranty?
Thanks

If it's not brake fluid then it is a leaking axle seal. If you have an extended warranty this should be covered depending on your warranty.

Thanks GMCSID,
I have the 100,000 standard warranty on engine and drivetrain, nothing else. Do you know if that warranty covers the leak?

If you just have the standard warranty then bumper to bumper is 3yr/36k. The 5yr/100k is just for the Duramax engine with a $100 deductable and only certain parts of the engine. An axle seal would not be covered under that warranty.
