: 4" lift ?'s
:help: I think I've been bitten by the bug:eek: Anyone tow a gooseneck with a 4" lift? 4" front and 2-3" rear lift correct?
Can't decide on a brand Trailmaster, Rancho and Tuff Country are what I've found so far. Any input welcome........

What kind and size of rims are your wheels? Thanks
I have 4" adjustment UP on my goose neck now. 2" block and bigger tires will put me 1" or so shy of the limit. BTW I only tow it about 10 times a year. A 4" lifft is all the farther I am willing to go. I think it is a better alternative than the Green keys or the Cognito. For what the Cognito costs with dual shocks, I might just a well make the leap to the 4" lift, 'cuz thats where I want to end up anyway. The Skyjacker 3" cost near $1000:eek: .
Hottshot55, Have you got any pics of the front suspension?
I may can the whole idea, and just breakout the sawzall, to fit 315's on H2's. I believe I read that H2's won't fit with spindle lift kits? Dunno
ockgator 04-01-2005, 01:05 AM Check my sig... rancho 4" with 35" pro comp M/T's on 8" eagle wheels. No problems whatsoever pulling gooseneck horse trailer most every weekend. Sig has link to larger pics of truck. Rancho kit comes with 3" rear blocks, front can go up to 5-6" over stock depending upon how much you crank T-bars, mine has a god 1-2" left I can crank into it but like ride and stance the way it is, just a bit of "bulldog".
ockgator, did you put that lift on yourself? That's the height and look I want, maybe a tad higher in the rear. Are you sure they are 3" blocks? I've heard 2" and 2 1/2" blocks:confused:
I like the Tuff country best so far because is doesn't widen the front end near as much as the Rancho or Trailmaster. You can use factory wheels with the Tuff, from what I've been able to find out so far.
farmboystoy 04-01-2005, 10:26 AM I just installed a Tough Country 4 inch lift last weak. I like it a lot better than when my T-bars where cranked!!!! Choose this one because the others widen the front track width. Tough Country rear block is 2 inhes and Rancho is 2.5 inches. I put a 3 inch block in to give the truck a little rake. I have 35X12.5 R17 on 8.5 wide rims with 4.5 back spacing. Clears with same triming as my 285's did with T-Bars cranked 3 inches. It is 1.5 inches taller at the rear wheel well.
Farmboytoy, how was the install, pretty easy and straight foward? I see they have their destructions online in PDF format;) Have you got any pics? I to would like to keep some rake. Can you still fit factory wheels on it?
Why do they widen the front track width  when the diff is lowered   This makes no sence to me. Anyone know? My thinking is if the diff is lowered, than it should be no different than stock, just 4" lower or what ever the lift is.
Thanks for all the info guys;) , keep it coming:grd:
tophog 04-01-2005, 03:45 PM I believe the track is widened as a result of the spindles used in the lift. Note, Rancho also advertises stock wheels can be used however I think that is also to mean stock tires. I have the Rancho and running a 5" BS rim with 295's, no rubbing but the clearance between the "bulge" of the tire and top of spindle is only about 1/8". At least it puts my tires inward further then running a 4.5" wheel.
I always thought the Tough Country/Rancho kits were identical ...I wish I would have known the touch country doesn't place wheels outward! Oh well, I'm happy with the Rancho since I've been able to find a tire/wheel combo that works and puts tires in further.
DMax_Doug 04-01-2005, 04:04 PM Ditto what Tophog said. I didn't know till now that we had an option for a 4" lift that didn't increase the front track 1.5" on each side.
By the way, my Rancho lift also came with the 2.5" rear blocks, but I've found that if you want your truck to sit close to level, it required cranking the torsion bars a lot. I picked up a set of 2" blocks yesterday, which should be worth about 2 turns down on my torsion keys to keep the same rake.
tophog 04-01-2005, 04:09 PM DMax_Doug, looks like our trucks have a lot in common other then your 02 front end looks a lot better :) Suncoast, Extreme, Rancho lift, etc. Got the tierod sleeves but haven't installed them yet. I don't want to hijack the thread but curious if you are running a lift pump. If so, PM me with details.
ON EDIT: Never mind ...I see the FASS now.

DMax_Doug 04-01-2005, 04:24 PM The similarities will be increasing Tophog, as my next set of tires will be BFG 295's. I hope they don't rub with my 4.5" backspaced Centerlines.
