Just finished the stereo install in my truck and I'm getting a wierd static in the tweeters. It can only be heard when all volume is down/off and doesn't increase with volume. All the basics have been checked (power wire is seperate from RCAs, etc.) and nothing we jiggle, remove, or otherwise try to eliminate seems to affect it. Only thing we've noticed is that it gets worse in the ignition key "run" position (engine off) but goes back down to "normal" light static when the engine is running or just in the "ACC" key position.
Any ideas??? We used all top quality (monster cable) cables and components. This is SUPER irritating!!
Thanks!!

does it go up in volume when you reve the motor? Could be getting some alternator whine, re double check the grounds, make sure they are clean grounds(bare metal) as well. worse case is a noise filter needed to purchase.

Are all your grounds going to the same place? Sounds like you have a bad ground.

I had the same problem with my X-PLOD unit.........it was picking up interferance from an RCA Cable and the antenna lead.
I used a new ground wire and re-routed the existing wires a little and it eliminated 95% of the background noise.
I found this at CRUTCHFIELDS WEB SITE

They also make a wrap that shields the cables, But I can't find where I saw it.......

Thanks guys, but I found it this evening.
Turns out one of the Monster Cable RCAs got the corner of itself pinched when we put the rear seats back in. Pulled it out and replaced it and all's well.
Thanks!!
