So ive been tossing around the idea for some time now, about getting a suspension lift and rims/tires.
I have a few questions, mainly about after the lift is installed...
I think im gonna go with:
FabTech 6" Spindle drop with shocks kit.
35" x 12.50 R 17
*Question 1.
can I have my speedo recalibrated so its correct with the bigger tires?, Same with my odometer??
*Question 2.
will a 6" fabtech clear 35" tires with no rubbing issues?
*Question 3.
I know with a spindle drop, they say you cant put your stock wheels back on because of the offset, what size offset do i need, ( at least ) to clear it?
*Question 4.
With a spindle lift is there much modification, welding / grinding to be done?
*Question 5.
Our trucks come close to weighing 9,500 lbs.... when ive been looking around for rim / tire combo's ive seen most of them are rated at 2,200 lbs pr wheel...
Some of them are rated at 3200 lbs pr wheel, but none that I liked. I dont plan on doing anything crazy with my truck but I do pull a 18ft enclosed trailer with atv's and I have a boat, and snowmobiles. Seems they would exceed the weight limit of the rims.
Do I need to find something stronger than that or will 2,200 work?
Thanks! And sorry for all the questions

Q1 A:Yes but you will need to buy a tuner to do that, when you fix the spedo that in turn fixes the odom.
Q2 A: If you have a 2500 w/ 6 and 35s you should be fine. a lot depends on the rim width and backspacing. most people want a 9" wide and 4.5-4.75 BS. most all kits except the ever popular COGNITO want you to use a 8" wide wheel.
Q3 A:not sure but you dont want to use stock wheels with a 35x12.5 any way.
Q4 A: Most all will have you cut the a ear off the diff very easy, cog 7-9 you dont cut the ear but you do make one other also very easy. you will drill a couple holes to drop the TB crossmember also very easy.
Q5 A: have not looked at this much, but I would what at the very least the total to be the same as the truck, idealy an even higher rated wheel would be better due to hauling loads in bed or in a trailer.
I research lifts every night and read a lot of threads!!!! Diesel Place is very pro COGNITO and will say to use nothing else. After my research they are awesome prob the best. The only two cons and $$$$$ and im on the fence whether 7" is to high for 35s 6" is prob just right but from every thing NOR-CAL Nick has said if you want to run 35s with a 9" wide wheel and normal back spacing and want to use your full range of suspension you will need 7". GOOD luck with the research -RYAN

My 2008 CCSB clears 33s stock. Has anyone tried running 35s with a leveling kit?

yes several people have run the h2 315s with just a leveling kit. im sure they rub. And doing a "leveling" kit does more harm than what u might think over the long run.

Ive heard so many things, Ive been told you can't run 33's stock.

A friend of mine has a 6" pro comp lift and it rubs with 35's... I really cant imagine you can run 35's with a leveling kit... if so that would be ridiculous.

I will add my 2 cents. I've had two 2500 HD's now ...a 2003 I leveled then installed a 4" Rancho kit. The 2007 GMC Classic I have now has a 6" Tuff Country which is also very popular for a few reasons. THe lift is durable and relatively cheap. The TC lift puts the tires/wheels outboard the LEAST (3/8") of any spindle lift on the market so if you like to keep the wheels/tires inside the fendwells as much as possible this is a good lift. It's also SIMPLE to go back to stock with the Tuff country lift.
I think the Fabtech is one of the worst in terms of placing wheels outboard ...may be the same as Rancho and others which is 1/2" per side. I have also ran wheels with 5.25" backspacing on the Tuff country lift with no problems...in a 17" wheel. Currently running RBP wheels (17x9) with 5.125" backspacing. In the end, I wish I would have left both stock :) Perhaps it's because I'm old now (44) LOL

my dads dually w/alum flatbed does not even weight 8,000 so there is no way a 2500 weights over that, somewhere around 7k depending on what you have installed in your truck.
cognito is nice but way more expensive compared to some others. i have a BDS 6'' lift i got it for $1,600 with dual steering stabilizers. even though its a spindle lift you can still use the stock rims on it if you so desire. it all depends on how much you want to spend that dictates what you end up with.
goodluck with finding what you need
