: Getting the Runaround
JhnZ71 03-29-2005, 08:32 PM ok, so i take my truck to the dealer for the blue smoking problem, the first three times i took it in they said that there were no problems. The fourth time i took the tech for a ride and he confirmed my blue smoke and said "theres no way thats normal". I get a call from my dealer two days later saying "do you have a chip", i of course said no. Then i get a call at the end of the day saying everythings fine and my truck is ready to go. Its perfectly normal to burn 2-3-4 qts of oil at every change and make massive clouds of blue smoke. You know im so fCensored ing frustrated with this bullsCensored t that GM and my dealer i could put my fist through a concrete wall. Anybody got any tips on how to get my dealer to help me with this problem??? :help:
Chevy dealers = -:t  :blahblah:
NWDmax 03-29-2005, 08:38 PM Go to a different dealer since the one you're going to now doesn't want your future business.
Max Power 03-29-2005, 08:40 PM What city/state are you in? Maybe we can help you find a good dealer. They are not all bad.
JhnZ71 03-29-2005, 08:45 PM yeah, ive already scheduled an appointment at another dealer. The thing is that they said that GM said not to do any further work. Dont know this is seriously old

Max Power 03-29-2005, 09:00 PM Post your VIN, someone will check to see if there are any holds. I think you will be fine.
Tim@DOA 03-30-2005, 09:54 AM I believe the owners manual has a phone number of a help center you can call when you and a dealership cannot come to an agreement on issues of this type. Try your best to leave the emotions at the door, resolve can take quite a bit of time.
JhnZ71 03-30-2005, 08:22 PM St. Louis, Missouri. I got a letter from GM today after i b*tched them out, they said that I should go to another dealer for my work, because the one I went to isnt a very good dealer, this is a pain in my a$$ I NEED MY TRUCK, i haul every day and cant afford to not have it, my 1500 Silverado cant haul 5th wheels (no hitch). Its 80 today and my truck seems to be running at 210 degrees just crusing on the highway, normally it runs at about 185 or so hmm... Also on my sheet from the dealer they said that the smoke could be caused by bad fuel, I got to the newest Mobile in town, tons of diesel trucks fill up there. I dont really think that bad diesel is my problem.
JhnZ71 03-30-2005, 08:27 PM my vin is
1GCHK23193F147593
also, my trucks mileage seems to be dropping, it went from about 18-20 to 14, i tow alot so that might be it but it never seems to be this low.
akdiesel 03-31-2005, 02:28 AM You atleast have paper trail started with 4 attempts to fix the problem.
I would think that if GM knows of the bad buisness this dealer is giving out they would drop them as a dealer.
This is a little off topic but I just took my truck in to get the new tailgate cables and I asked them if I install an extra after market fuel filter, would it void my warrenty and they basicly said no. I have heard of replies from others on here that have had problems from dealers voiding warrenty work due to after market filters.
JhnZ71 03-31-2005, 02:20 PM no, even my dealer said that that is a "preventative" and wouldnt viod the warranty
GMCSID 03-31-2005, 04:09 PM Post your VIN, someone will check to see if there are any holds. I think you will be fine.It looks ok.

Terrain Twister 03-31-2005, 05:55 PM JhnZ71,
Does your state have emission testing for Diesels? If it does just have it tested to see if it fails (or have it failed). I know it's a pain in the ass but they can't fight a failed emission test. They would have to fix it then. Just a thought.
Cougar281 03-31-2005, 07:15 PM JhnZ71,

In St Charles COunty, I'm exempt on two counts: being over something like 8600 GVW and being a diesel.
Edit: JhnZ71, if you ever find a good, knowledgable dealer that actually takes care of you, if they happen to be towards the western end, please let me know.. I'm trying to find one to go to if/when I need warranty work. Right now I have Lou Fusz, but don't know how good their service actually is since I've only had the truck inspected there.
JhnZ71 04-04-2005, 12:28 PM You know anything about weber chevrolet Cougar 281? is Jim Trenary any good? My truck is still blowing the smoke, in 1000 miles my dipstick was reading 1 qt low
JhnZ71 04-04-2005, 12:36 PM you know i think i have an injector that is going bad but is still either barely in "parameter" or not too far out of it. I have blue smoke at idle when warm, and a small pufff when i press the accelerator. I removed the banks six gun, my truck seems to run at 210 degrees (50-80 degrees outside), my mileage is about 14.5 i do hit it but its been stock for a week and alot of the miles are highway. I dont think i have all that serious of an engine problem. Oil Press still seems normal, does this sound like injectors and my dealer is just delaying fixing it as long as possible, i guess my dealer will only do injector work if there all bad and my truck limps into the dealer... anyone know of anygood stl, mo dealers tell me thanks!
JhnZ71 04-04-2005, 12:37 PM i used to get 18-20 with the six gun

Unfortunatley, no. The only one I've been to is Lou Fusz in St Peters, and that was just for a safety inspection. I'll probably take it to them for some warranty work before my 36 is up, and see how it goes unless I hear of a better dealer.
