Were the 6.5's really carried over to the non C/k Body styles?
Skip to 4:20, maybe they just got their facts wrong? It does appear the coolant bottle isnt in its normal place maybe GM just scraped the idea?

Concept truck perhaps? The turbo power cover is different as well. its slanted down where is says "Turbo Power". I believe the 6.5 was scrapped when the 6.6 came out in time for the 01 trucks.
If the truck shown was a concept truck it not only is rare, it shows that GM had something planned for the 6.5 right until the dmax came out. 215HP is at the stock level for the first year of the Powerstroke. Supposedly there was a PCM "tune"(for lack of a better word) that allowed more fuel(up to almost 80 mm^3 per stroke, as opposed to the earlier years with 64-65 mm^3 per stroke) than any of ours did at stock levels, but i guess GM scrapped the idea and never released it.

6.5 Was in use until 02 in the C3500HD and vans. With the C4500 and new van style in 03, the 6.5 was gone from all the normal GMC/Chevy vehicles. As far as this goes. I suspect it's one of GM's one-off oddities.

and your point is??
OP point is that no one has a 99+ body style in a 1/2 ton with a 6.5 as shown.

Good Eye on the Engine Cover. I didnt even notice that. Too bad this didnt make it to production. It would of been nice to see this engine in that body style. Probably would of been a cheaper option then the DMAX.

If the guys at GM could make it work, i can't see some of the 6.5 guys not being able to figure it out.

when did they stop giving the option for the 6.5 in the Z71 package for the c/k and tahoe/subs?

The guy I bought my '97 crewcab from worked at the Arizona GM proving grounds. He included with it 4 factory ECMs one 185/420, two 195/430s and a 215/440 which is the one that is in the truck as we speak. Since they quote 215/440 in the review I wonder if I have a prototype ECM? The truck has numerous other "unavailable" options on it.

It might be because GM didn't redesign it's 2500/3500 trucks until '01...

That would of been cool if the 6.5 was in the 1500 Silverados
Like you said the Hds with the powerdome hoods came out a year later

my guess is that it was available in Canada but not here. i have seen a lot of "weird" offerings when i visit there but not here. i like to pick up the 'truck trader' and stop for a joe at timmys and read it. cool stuff.........
