Mine is faded...... .....but I power wash it reguarly with 3000 PSI and work the truck everyday.............it has held up exceptionally weel considering the daily abuse.

I have never used that renew stuff they gave me either.

As far as durability..............:ro) :ro) :ro)

Yes it fades, that's why I use a cover.

They also give you some spray stuff like armoral but thet call it "Just Once"
Does it work? Maybe I have used it and works just like armoral.

Guy on another board suggested using the tire cleaner at a local coin-op car wash to clean and bring back some of the color. Might be worth a try.

Any kind of degreaser seems to clean up the line-x very well.

If you're trying to decide on which to get, LINE-X! I have both on my truck, long story, when they're side by side it's no contest.....

You can also use simple green cleaner (which is about the same as the tire/engine cleaner stuff at the do-it-yourself washes). I've used that at home with the following steps: applying it at full strength, scrubbing with a wash brush, letting it sit for a few minutes, then using a power washer to rinse the bed. It looks just about like new after doing this.

;) I've had nothing but LINE-X in the 6 trucks I've owned. If you use an Armour-All or equivalent product the Liner will look good as new, and stay that way.

I have Rhino in the old 95 and not impressed. Guess I will try the Line X this time. Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, a protectorant like Just Once will keep it from fading. Another idea is to have it topcoated with Ultra Shield, which all LINE-X dealers have, or have it painted with Dupont Ful-thane Nason paint. I prefer the Nason, it's darker and glossier. I've sprayed about 4 trucks in the last week with black Nason.

When I got mine they told me to use "son of a gun" protectant to keep it black and shinny. Works well so far.

Doesn't armour all make the bed floor slick when doing this?

I was wondering that to, when armor all is applied it will collect dust and dirt won't it:confused: ? Black nason looks like the ticket so far!

OOPs, I guess I should ask, what happens if the nason gets scuffed off? You get a faded spot?

I was going to post these pics last week of my Line-X job that was tinted with my paint code of Fire Red on my 05 GMC. I'm glad that I did not go with the stanard black color.

i have both (the line-x is older) and it has faded. its held up well. what i will say i prefer MUCH about the rhino is that it isn't so slippery.. my dogs & tools slide around in the line-x and always have but they stick great on the rhino...

How much is everybody paying for Line-X. I'm in So Cal and was quoted $500 + and it seems all dealers in the area charge about the same. Does anyone out there know where to get it for less. It has a nationwide warranty so it seems as though it wouldn't matter where you got it from.

That's a pretty consistent price and I don't recall any "discounts" on Line-X as they ARE a national chain and the franchisees all use the same pricing schedule. I had mine done under-rail when I bought the truck in 2001 in Green Bay, WI for $450 and it cost me $150 to have the rails shot last year in Maumee, OH. I saw that they had a price list posted in the Maumee shop and an under rail bed spray was $500.

I called the shop here and its $450 over rail and I can print off a $20 coupon so that would about pay the sales tax.

I paid 475.00 for over the rails about 3 months ago.

I don't see how Line-X would be easier to slip when wet than Rhino Linings. All the Rhino I've seen was really slippery and smooth like. Not rough like I want.

anyone have pics of a tinted LineX? I would be interested to see how it turned out.

LanduytG

I was going to get the tint but the local shop advised against it. Said if your using it as a work truck it will not hold up. It was also $150 more for the tint.

Not hold up as in fading or just wont hold up? Truck wont be for work, just DD, probably with a LEER Cap on it.

I'm a LINE-X dealer.

LINE-X and DuPont have been working on a special topcoat for about a year. LINE-X Xtra is a topcoat that will contain Kevlar "pulp". It will be glossy, retain its color, is VERY durable, and dries in less than 10 minutes. This topcoat will not be a "layered" topcoat. "Layered" meaning like if you were to paint a liner, you would have a layer of paint on top of the liner. Xtra will actually penetrate the liner and be integrated into it. LINE-X Xtra should be available around May 2005. Cost? Don't know yet. Black is the only color available now, but colors are in the near future.

Had Line-X put in right after I got the truck, best investment yet, well actually it was free but still totally worth it. My dad had rhino lining in his old truck, also a good product. I guess it is just personal preference on looks.

Well I am going to :grd: on Friday. I have Rhino in the old truck and other than fadding it has held up well. I hope the Line X does as well. My issues with Rhino is I have to leave the truck which is a royal pain. Plus I had the nurf bars sprayed and they told me life time warranty. So when it started to peal I took it back and they claimed they never said it was life time warranty.

Greg, the Line-x guy I talked to said make sure they run the wand up inside the nerf bars or they will rust from the inside out. You know how thin the nerf bar material is:rolleyes:
