On my son's '08 Chevy D/A the brake lights only work when the key is on. It has the intergrated trailer system. Is this normal? On everything I've ever owned the brake lights would come on when the brake peddle was pushed. Does it have something to do with some sort of safety issue with the trailer braking system? I might add that the trailer brake lights do not come on either if the key is off.

I've had this truck for 1-1/2 years and never realized that. Mine is like yours - no brake lights until the key is turned to the 'acc' position. Mine also has the IBC.

Nothing to do with IBC - Mine's same way no brakelights with no key - with no IBC.
