Can anyone tell me what in thier opinion is the best PMD cooler on the market? I am looking at S & S diesel as well as BIZHOST. Can anyone shed any light on this. It is for 94 2500. 6.5 T Diesel.

I got mine from SS Diesel and it was an easy install. Walt is a great help. He takes all kinds of payment. I prefer him to the other place.

I made my own and kept my money.

The really important thing is to mount it in a cool airstream. I put mine up front (upper rt corner)

but in the airbox prefilter or in the bumper work.

Yeah, its called a DS4 pump ;)Sure fire place for it to fail IMO and after 120Kmi/193Km GM won't even fix it, it's hard enough to get them to honor the warranty as is, keep it mounted on the pump be sure to carry a spare. I'm glad that location has been sucessful for you, but trend here on this forum and others, is that location is not the best place. GM & Stanadyne both have internally acknowledged this but can't go public with it for all the liability involved, if this were not so why have the special extended policy in the 1st place. It exists as it's cheaper to wait the problem out and hope by attrition the clock will run out ,or owner will replace the vehicle before an PMD failure, then obfuscate the problems, by 1st deny claim, blame owner for poor fuel quality management, drop fuel tanks at exorbinant prices, change lift pumps for big bucks, lie about having to pay deducatables and any other reason to not honor warranty.

Not every truck fails PMDs, some get good ones last a lifetime in GM's recommended location, but forum after forum, 6.5 owners left stranded stall, sputter, cutout, solution replace PMD, not hard to see the trend.

Trons, or tron components (transistors) don't like heat, heat xfer is marginal on pump even with 100% heat xfer on a hot day fuel returned (the cooling medium of a pump mount) runs 150-160F/65-71C so the coolest it could possibly be at 100% cooling capacity is return fuel temp.

This discounts self generated transistor heat to be removed, IP case heat sucked thru IP to engine mount, and radiant underhood heat 200+F/93C.

TDG you are one of the more knowleageable guys out there on IPs and how they work, but on this one topic of PMDs mounted on IP as being best location, the data trend suggests otherwise I so I'll have to take exception with this one, but that's my opinion for what it's worth. Guess we have to agree to disagree. Remote mount has worked far more successfully than GMs location. Key though to remote mounting is mount in a cool place on engine intake isn't that place, another opinion based on personal experience.

Mines in the same place as QM and I moved it there myself, but my heatsink is forward because I wanted on comming air from driving down the road to keep the heatsink cool plus the heatsink shields the FSD from gravel and stuff.

im gonna use the aluminum head off of a briggs and stratton small engine as my heat sink.

Same here, it came on the pump, it stays on the pump.
I have NEVER had to warranty one we did here, and they all go back on the pump.

It is for 94 2500. 6.5 T Diesel.S&S is a knock off of the orginal Beta cooler that mounts on the intake manifold, I had one there for 30,000 miles and it was toast, I feel the pump mount is as good or better, the ONLY advantage that I think for that is it's easy to change replacements. Bizhost BE CAREFULL, :badidea: he has no phone number and check his backing there is none and return policy, "returns only if you call....dahhh how can you call with no phone and if you hire a PI and get number then there is 25% restocking and the rest is credit to other purchases.

I replaced my Beta set up with a Heath Issolator kit he gives 7 year replacement, he's been around longer than either S&S or Bizhost A-1 steack sauce and is less than Bizhost by about $75...........but do what you like. I have no affiliation with any vendor, I am just a satisfied buyer.

interesting idea, just make sure you have flat to flat surface contact for max heat xfer, ( may need to prep surface, also no annodize, that is an insulator) one of the things Heath attributes to longevity is flatness where 2 parts meet

I always wonder why you couldn't put it inside the cab. I was going to do the same thing to mine this spring.

Use the Stanadyne pad in between your heat sink. That thing has superior heat transfer abilities. Turbine Doc clear out your message box I can't send you anything.
