Popular question today it seems.....

No, you don't..they are a sealed unit.....No service required until they go bad, then replace assembly

Just curious. Are all 2500 series trucks come with sealed unit?

Just curious. Are all 2500 series trucks come with sealed unit?Every 2500 truck from 88 to present comes with sealed front wheel bearings....
The only exception is the "old" body style from 88-91..These were the refered to as a V2500 rather than a K2500...Those had regular tapered bearings in them....

So, what is the benefit of having a sealed bearing? I would think it would last longer if one could lube it regularly?

Sealed units are less prone to contamination by the outside world. While most open bearings will last longer than sealed units in an ideal world. There are too many opportunities to cause damage while greasing. That can be from anything to overgreasing, to dirt infiltration brought in by the grease itself.

Overall, seal bearings will last longer with less maintenance cost.

yeah, and when they go they sound like dunt, dunt, dunt. just found out my left front went out... $370 plus install.. I can do it myself for $280 with the good buddy discount.

funny thing is the noise was very random and i didn't feel it in the steering wheel. felt it mostly in the gas pedal. Right now the tire moves about 5/8 of an inch back and forth at the treads.
:grd: tonight.

better update my sig.
