The dealer installed new pitman and idler arms on my truck last week after only 20,000 miles on the truck. I decided some aftermarket help was in order. I bought the cognito Pitman/Idler arm support kit from Kennedy, installed it last night and it makes a very noticeable difference. With the addition of some bilsteins, also from Kennedy, the truck now handles like a dream. I have been a member of this forum for a short while now, but I thought it was time I chimed in. The advice on this forum has proved to be second to none. Thanks to Kennedy, Superdiesel, Mike L. and all the others. You guys rock.:ro) My next project will be some SD Tie rod sleeves. Where does it end!!

Is this a simple install? Any special tools required? Thanks

Motohead,
I installed the kit in the driveway laying on my back. It took me about an hour and a half. I had to loosen the idler arm bolts and remove one to allow me to get the bottom nut off. Other than that it was fairly easy and it really tightened up my front end. I would think the parts will last a long time since the heim joints really don't move much, if at all.
The whole process would be easier using a lift of course, but I haven't figured out how to convince my wife we need one.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif

Firelt,
I checked for anything hitting when turning the wheel to the stops. The bracket on the pitman arm just barely hits the cross frame as the wheel hits the stop. To answer your question, I don't think you would notice the "very slight" loss of turning radius if yours hit. I am going to inspect the kit periodically to make sure nothing gets bent, but I don't expect it will. I drove over some railroad tracks tonight that usually try to throw me into the other lane. Between the kit and the Bilsteins, I didn't even feel the bumps in the steering wheel. I am getting more impressed with it the more I drive it. If I could only stop looking for bumps and potholes to ride over now.
Good luck with your install.
