I studied electronics as a young man and it was impressed on us that such terms as Ohm, Volt, Henry, etc. should always be capitalized because they were not only men's names, but also the names of men that we should show respect and gratitude. Great inventors and scientists all.
I truly believe that Rudolf Diesel was the second greatest inventor of all time and that it would be the honorable thing to celebrate his name by always capitalizing it. So that is what I shall do, from now on, unless I forget :shootself.
Won't you join me?
So - Here's to Rudolf Diesel :beerchug: truly a candle in the wind.

Turbine Doc felt very strongly as well in regard to caps for Diesel . I would want my family name capitalized when & if it was used.

To Mr.Diesel the funny thing is he developed these engines to run off of oils such as peanut oil but back in the day it cost double to make the oil vs the then cheap patrolieum products.(grade 12 essay)

I to almost always capitalize the word Diesel. I feel Diesel engines is far more superior to gasoline engines. I just wish everybody else in the US would feel the same so we would have more of a choice for new cars that come equipped with a Diesel engine in the US. I hate to say this but, my wife's next vehicle will be a Mercedes SUV with the Diesel unless GM pulls their head out of the four point of contact and builds the 4.5 Diesel for the Suburban. (I hate purchasing anything vehicle wise that is not American made)
Thank you Rudolf Diesel for making such a great motor!
Good Post HamOP!

for the record we could refer to the gasoline engines in use today as the Wankel, the Otto, the Miller and the Atkinson....

But there is only one Diesel ;)
Here's to a man that designed an engine that most people thought was peanuts :D :ro):beerchug:
