I would like to mount 265/75R16 (BFG All Terrain) tires on my truck. This would be a 3.7% change in both tire diameter and rolling circumference, I have heard that GM will permit 4%. Do you think that this small change will have any reliability affects or noticeably different driving characteristics? I do not tow any thing very heavy nor do I plan to haul anything over 10K in the future. Have any of you tech's seen problems like odd or eratic shifting, noticeably poor performance, or anything else besides the TSB info. with this size of tires? I am thinking that this small difference for all intents and purposes will hardly be noticeable regarding the shifting and driving. I know that the speedo will be a little off and that I should get the ABS reflashed, no problem.

Thanks

I am not a tech but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night :D . Seriously though, I put 265's on my '02 when I saw the air in the factory donuts. I couldn't tell any difference in driveability or performance (I tow quite a bit). The speedo was off about 4% though and it may have been turning a few less RPM's. Fuel mileage seemed to be 0.5-0.75 mpg better as well. So I guess all in all I prefer the 265's. As soon as I can se the air in my '05 tires I will be replacing them with 265's. As far as GM's 4% allowance.......... .
