I'm looking at maybe trading my 02 1/2 ton in on an 09 2500 plow truck equipped from the dealer ready to go. so heres the stats on the truck-

09, 2500, base work truck, crank windows, 6.0 gas motor, 6 speed trans, regular cab, long bed, 4x4 obviously, 8ft Boss poly blade plow, snow plow prep packackage obviously, trailering equipment with electronic trailer harness. very nice truck Imo I can get it for 31k otd. Plow setup alone is 4,500. what are your opinions on the price? I really thought(was hoping) I could get it for mid 20's considering I'm getting the truck at gms pricing.

also I would be using it for mainly driveways and maybe a small commercial lot. say something like a pizza shop parking lot. would this be an ideal truck to use or is there a better configuration? this would be my first plow truck but do have a little experience plowing. thanks guys

yeah I hear ya. I don't want to go diesel on this one. just want a decent work truck with a plow. Can you even get a 2500/3500 in regular cab short bed? also can you get a 3500 with a gas motor or is the duramax standard?

The '87 K30 gets my vote...but that '09 sounds pretty good too, what is MSRP on that unit?

MSRP is 32,129. I can get the truck and plow ready to go for 31 OTD. I just really thought GM would have more incentives on their 09's. I guess they are offering quite a bit off on the 08's but my dealer can't even get one and they have alot of inventory. Hell I just bought the LT3 duramax a year ago. It was an 07 cc left over Lbz completely loaded and I got 8k off sticker plus 0%. To me it just seems like an MSRP of 32 is a lot for a base WT.

Shop around, there is no way you should be paying that much for a W/T.

That's what I thought. I know this is the best deal I can get though because myself and my family buy all our vehicles from the same guy at the same dealer. We always get GMS pricing, plus 2k with the GM mastercard so you can't get better than that. It's just there not giving a whole lot of rebates on these 09's. I actually went this weekend and drove the truck. It's really nice and the plow functions really nice. Don't forget that's with the price of the plow added in at 4,300. I'm goona hang loose until GM decides that if they want to move vehicles in this market they need more rebates/incentives.

From http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/djf500/200812221645DOWJONESDJONLINE000494_FORTUNE5.htm

"LaNeve, in a broadcast to dealers, also promised "aggressive" incentives starting in January to move 2009 cars and trucks."

"The auto maker is saddled with a glut of unsold vehicles as U.S. auto sales creep to multi-decade lows. LaNeve said GM would like to direct more money to discounts on 2009 vehicles but must first move to clear out 2008 cars and trucks."

Usually shorter the better but a RCLB is fine. If you really get into plowing then an 8' in bed sander would be a great option and money maker. I dont know if i would go with a Poly blade, i know a couple guys around here who have broken them in severe cold weather. Personally i would go for stainless, better looking and it wont rust down the road. The last thing you want to do in the summer months is sand/paint the blade so snow doesnt stick to it. As far as the price goes i would shop around, you may find one cheaper with more options.

the SS plows are really nice but actually weight a bit more than a regular one

That truck would do fine. I had an EC/SB gasser that was also a good truck. The only thing I would change is to get power windows/locks. Rolling the window down to get some snow off it is nice when you don't have to reach over. I would also make sure it had a locking diff. That will help also.
