Just got my new 05, I really love it, espicially the increase milage.
My question is when driving my truck thru a parking lot, really light throttle, maybe 1000-1200RPM the engine seem surge up & down. up to 1200-1300 RPM then back down to 900-1000 RPM. all with out moving the throttle any.
A lot like a gas motor would do if the IAC opens really fast & then closes back up.
The truck has less than a 1000 miles on it as of yet, I have heard people talk about the computer learning mode in the first 3000 miles. Is this true?
Has anyone else expreianced the surging in there motors.

Are you hitting any bumps in the parking lot? The throttle is electronically linked to the engine and can be touchy when hitting some bumps. There is a TSB for the older trucks ('04.5) that reflashed the computer to remove the low speed engine surge. I think it actually just moved the surge up in the RPM range so it wouldn't do it at low RPM's.

Mine did it when it was new.....
Doesn't do it any more. I'm at 6,000 miles....
If I remember correctly- It only really did it when the engine was cold.

My 05 is 6 days old and does the same thing. I think it is one of those things that I will learn to drive through or it may gradually disapear with more miles. I have 324 miles to date. It is real tough to leave it parked with all those ponies so eager to please!!!

The 2005's have the latest programming for the surge, but it is still there...
I hope GM can fix this soon.
My 05 does it at "very light" to "light" throttle (less than 5%) no matter what RPM at 40mph or less.
I too have an 05 that surged at low speeds. At first oil change, I asked the service manager about the re-flash and he stated that the 05's would have all of the current flashes....hmm
Truck now has almost 6,000 miles on it and still does it. You may have to learn to live with it?? Good luck!

Interesting...
I've not noticed this at all with my new 05. I'll have to pay a little more attention when driving slow (won't take long, I'm sure I'll be stuck in traffic tomorrow :D).
