:help: ...my truck won't crank over this morning  ...it's never had any problem starting before; even this winter...the weather has been very rainy, but mild...i drove it this past saturday, no problems...it DOES crank, but VERY slowly and with a low-sounding growl...

i bought it in feb '04, so i don't knoiw how old the batteries are...it's due for an oil change and new fuel filter...shud i just have the batteries replaced?

:thankyou2

yes. you may want to test them, but since your truck is an 01, i would bet on replacing the batteries.

i went ahead and had the batteries replaced...baby runs fine now :cool2:

however, i'm concerned that the was NO warning that the batteries were depleted :badidea: ...my in-dash meter gave me NO warning that anything was wrong

is there anyway i can be better informed in the future?

:thankyou2

As long as you have a good set of batteries you should be fine for many years. When mine went out I went with a set of Optima Red Tops and haven't looked back.
