Alright, so I'm still on the hunt for the "perfect" gauges.

Here's the criteria:

1. Black Face

2. High Quality (I've looked seriously at SPA, but there seems to be a lot of failures with them.)

3. Good Lighting (I'm not real impressed with the traditional Autometer-type lighting).

4. High Limits (i.e. a 0-60 psi boost gauge with a >1600°F pyro)

5. Won't Break the Bank!

At this point, I'm seriously looking at the ATS gauges--they have a 0-2000°F pyro and the 60 psi boost gauges with what looks like good lighting (an LED type).

Has anyone tried them? Who actually makes the gauges for ATS?

You can find them at www.atsdiesel.com (http://www.atsdiesel.com/) under the Dodge section. I'm not sure why they don't list them under the GM section, but gauges shouldn't be brand specific, should they?

Here's a better link:

Hard to tell if the bezel is flat or rounded. Different look than most others...I to am not thrilled about the lighting Auto Meter uses. Tell you what buy the ATS gauges in black and post some pics for the rest of us (me) to see :D:muahaha:

Well I might just have to do that, we'll see. Their pricing doesn't seem out of line compared with the others, and the lighting looks pretty good from what I can tell.

Juice,

That's out of a Freightliner, isn't it? Who makes it? How is the lighting?

Coyote, Either you spent a lot of seat time in one or I ordered it from you:D

You are right on the money!

From a 1986-1990 Freightshaker FL 70 IIRC

I saw the truck at a local dealer and i knew i had to have it.
Lighting is quite good, But it is green in colour with a standard bulb.

It is real nice to use 2/3 of the gauge now!:ro)

I do like the face that the it is a good match for the stock instrument cluster during the day. Nighttime, it has great vis in 'soft green' lighting, but my preference would be to have it orange like the factory stuff.... mind you, i do not like orange lighting.... green is my preference.... maybe a new mod is required... hmmm

Juice,

What can I say, I have an eye for these things! LOL... I actually don't even have a CDL, but I have spent some time in a FL, and I love flippin switches and messin with gauges, so I guess I just recognized it.

Gunbunny,

I do still like the Di Pricols a lot, and I've almost ordered them a couple times now. I'm just looking for a pyro that will go past 1600, but if I peg a 1600, then I probably better just take 'er easy then, huh?

I called ATS and they said their gauges are made by Faze. I talked to a nice guy, and he said in their experience they've had a higher return/failure rate with the Di Pricols than the Faze line, but he wasn't knocking the Pricols at all...had good things to say about them.

Anybody know much about Faze?

afterburners? That is the 'Enable' Switch for the Hella Rallye 4000's It lights up when the hibeams are activated and turns on the Hellas. In the off position the switch does not illuminate.

Speaking of which, Trippin's Mount has 2 switches so i might make that lit switch my lockup switch for the transmission, and the 2 *** mount switches for the Hellas and the PIAA's

One thing for sure..... I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles!

(Thank you Beatles!):ro)

Need another Switch too, a manual override for a TIAL BOV.... so i can still make SMOKE at WOT if i so desire (Twins Bypass Direct to atmosphere venting)

i've got vdo gauges they look good almost like stock lighting is good but there is no limits its just a simple gauge black face white letters. hitched light up to dash dimmers and works well the boost gauge does not go to 60 psi though. they were inexpensive to.
