: Random stalling
B-24legacy 03-28-2005, 11:43 PM New Member here. I recently purchased a 97 6.5,automatic. Mine will just shut down going down the road. Never know when it will do it.It may run fine for a mile then stall. It might run for an hour then stall. Sometimes it won't run but a second then shut down over and over.We checked the fuel pressure, and it is fine and it stays around 4-5 on the guage when it stalls.I've changed the fuel filter which had a lot of crud in it. It ran fine for a day and it started again. There is no code, and the man that sold me the truck conveniently told me later that a mech. told him the brain or something was saying that it had low oil pressure and would shut it down. But the oil pressure is fine. What the heck is wrong!
chevy_9465 03-28-2005, 11:53 PM most likely its the PMD on the injector pump, mine did the same thing a few months back, we replaced the pmd, and it fixed it just like it did the other 4 times. it could be a couple other things but this is the most likely.
kimagine 03-28-2005, 11:53 PM Did you check the OPS(oil pressure switch). It helps control the lift pump?
Mark
kimagine 03-28-2005, 11:56 PM And yes, Chevy is right, it could be the PMD. I keep forgetting about that thing since my older truck does not have one. The symptoms sound familiar though.

B-24legacy 03-29-2005, 12:06 AM chevy 9465 You mean youve replaced it 4 times? I had a mech. look at it and i'm assuming he checked the PMD and the oil pressure switch. I'll find out though Thanks!
B-24legacy 03-29-2005, 12:07 AM Thanks kimagine i'll check in to it.
Turbine Doc 03-29-2005, 12:08 AM B-24 swing by FAQs in sticky posts above IIRC I think I had a link to TS stalling in there
chevy_9465 03-29-2005, 12:19 AM yea but last time i put a used box on instead of buying a new one
gmenor 03-29-2005, 05:45 AM If you can pull the PMD off check to see if the mounting screws are loose under the plastic covers. If they are this might be your culprit. Tighten them down and see if the problem reoccurs. Had to do it 5 months ago and its still running strong. I always keep a back up PMD in the glove box --- never know. I have mounted on a cooler behind the drivers side battery.
B-24legacy 03-29-2005, 06:07 PM There is a web site where a PDC/PMD remote harness is sold. http://duramax.bizhosting.com They are selling PMD with harness to put on firewall. Does anyone know if this is a good product or even a good idea? They sell it for $525.00. I think the PMD is probably my culprit but this is an expensive guess.G.M. want $350.00 for stock PMD.

That guy would sell you a pmd if you had a flat tire.
gm-partsdirect sells the driver for less than $350 and gm dealer may honor the online quote.
w_huisman 03-29-2005, 07:19 PM That guy would sell you a pmd if you had a flat tire. Now I don't care who you are... that's funny, right there! :exactly: :funnypost
Don't buy from bizhosting until you've researched several other venders such as www.heathdiesel.com (http://www.heathdiesel.com/) and www.kennedydiesel.com (http://www.kennedydiesel.com/) and (somehow) decided that bizhosting has the best offer.
But I'm telling ya, that bizhosting guy is an absolute quack! "TROLL TROLL TROLL!" It's all the guy ever talks about, besides telling everyone how his pmd kit can fix your flat tires. ):h
Read my sig. and beware A1. No one should have to be so ripped off while at the same time be treated stupid from the most unprofessional internet buisness person I've ever delt with.
B-24legacy 03-29-2005, 11:50 PM Thanks guys, for all your help. Now I know where not to go for tire repairs.....
B-24legacy 04-05-2005, 11:52 PM Thanks Guys For your help. I purchased a bumper mounted PMD from Heath Diesel (Which by the way is THE place to buy diesel parts.) The Guy at Heath was GREAT. That solved my problem..... No more stalling. The PMD was overheating in it's stock placement. The part was easy to install, just wish it would have had a different type plug on it,to fit exact to the stock plug. But I won't complain since it solved the problem. Again thanks, great info. place.
DieselPro 04-06-2005, 12:40 AM Check out duramaxbizhosting at netscams. He's a real crak head. Only guy I know who tries to sell PMD coolers to 93 and older GMs that don't even have a PMD.
http://netscams.golden.net/Forum/YaBB.cgi?board=news
He also stole my handle name and he is using it there. Guess he kinda likes it. Guess he crapped out his gmdieseltech name and needed something more reputable. Please go there and tell him what you think.
I'll give a free injector for anyone who can find this guy. Phone, and address will do. Picture optional. Limited time, first come, first served. Picture of business will be a Plus. Good Luck!
jac6695 04-06-2005, 08:31 AM That guy is a peice of work. I hope that nobody is getting ripped off by him.

bowtie 04-06-2005, 09:46 AM But where does he live, City, State?
Someone who bought from him should know where the package came from?
jac6695 04-06-2005, 09:52 AM I wonder if someone that lives near that address from the netscams site where he has the PO box could try hanging out there for a while?
