On a 02 2500HD CC/SB, the Banks kit I bought only had the piping from the four bolt flange back to the tailpipe. I would have thought that the head pipe would be replaced as well. This truck does not have a CAT. Is it really necessary to replace the head pipe, or is ok the way it is. The system sure sounds nice, and does seem to add power, and the wife says it has increased the MPG.:)

u might as well do it, the down pipe opens it up even more.

I have an '02 CC LB I didn't had the same thing. I asked the Banks rep and they say it wasn't necessary after all their testing. I guess they know best?

banks exhaust on my 03 was from the downpipe back, from just in back of the pass side front wheel well. not sure a much larger downpipe would fit, or help much for that matter.
