Does everyone have this problem or is it just mine. I went to plug mine in for the first time and found the plug on the right hand side. When I undid it and tried to feed it through the front of the truck it comes up a few inches short. So that means I have to pop the hood every time I want to plug it in. Is that the way they all are?

Yep. that's the way they are. You can open up the wire loom and pull out enough cord to reach outside the hood, some have it poking out the bottom near the valence. Some install a short hd extension cord under the hood, some rig up trick flush mount plugs on the bumper, some run extension cords along the frame to the rear of the truck, some leave it as is because they rarely plug thier trucks in.

I rerouted mine and got enough slack to stick it out between the hood and the passenger headlight.

Ran mine down and cut a hole and mounted a female plug end in the center of the front lower air dam, between the fog lights, I'll post some pics later

I ran mine to rear bumper. I cut a hole in bumper next to license plate and put a outlet like a fire truck has. I will post pictures when it stops snowing. I back in driveway so this is more convenient.

Nope not the glow plugs, it warms the coolant.

I bought a Kenworth plug and put it coming out on my drivers side of my bumper in the chrome, the chrome flip up door blends in and looks good, if only I could find a cover that said Duramax in stead Kenworth.

If you re-route it, it should be long enough to stick out between the hood and the headlight. Mine was.
