: Astrostart Window Module
PalmValleyGMC 03-28-2005, 07:46 PM I have the Astrostart 5204 and would like to be able to roll the windows up and down with it. I have already talked to Tony about this but I was wondering if any of you have this as an option on your starter and if so what type of module are you using. Tony sugested this one http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=626 to me but he has never installed one of these yet .
BlueOx03 03-28-2005, 10:04 PM In the world of security modules there's a lot of re-lableing of only a few manufactures products. That said, I believe that is the same think as the CS GM U-7, which does do windows in some vehicles such as the trailblazer/envoy platform. The bad news is that it doesn't do it on our trucks. Trilogix, a fairly large bypass manufacturer made a data window module for a while, but last I heard they discontinued it do to significant problems. I'm looking into running a module in each door...Data's a real PITA sometimes...

b_gable 03-29-2005, 09:30 PM I would like to do the same with my astrostart remote however I have been unable to find a windows up module that hooks into the databus. There are several that will work if you wire to each motor but that is a pain. I called peripheral electronics who makes the device listed above and they said it will not work on our turcks. I contacted the trilogix people also and they confirmed they have pulled theirs off the market because of problems with it.
BlueOx you are going to try to wire a module for each motor?
BlueOx03 03-29-2005, 10:37 PM Yep, that's the plan, I won't do it unless I get one touch though...
b_gable 03-29-2005, 10:43 PM Yep, that's the plan, I won't do it unless I get one touch though...
What do you mean by "one touch"? Which module are you looking at using?
Max Power 03-29-2005, 10:55 PM If you guys can hang on a bit I think this will be available through data shortly. We know it can be done, it's just a matter of time before someone has someting that works. Going into each door works, but it's a lot of work for something that can be done SO much simpler.
BlueOx03 03-29-2005, 11:32 PM Simple? What the hell is that?
PalmValleyGMC 03-30-2005, 06:53 PM Well that's not good news !! I ordered that module, it's going to be here tomorrow. I hope they'll take it back.
So I guess I shouldn't even try it huh ?
Max Power 03-30-2005, 07:48 PM Do they advertise that it will work? Call their tech support before you start. See what they have to say.
PalmValleyGMC 03-31-2005, 07:17 PM Well I have it and it has a chart on the back of the instructions and it does not roll up the windows on our trucks. From the link you gave me it sure looked like it would. Oh well I sure hope someone gets to work on a module that will work.
PalmValleyGMC 04-06-2005, 08:25 PM I emailed the place I ordered that interface from, that I thought would work, so I could return it and they told me they can order an interface that will work the windows on our trucks. I asked them if it will work with an Astrostart and I'm waiting on a reply. I'll keep ya'll updated.
PalmValleyGMC 04-06-2005, 08:53 PM Tony, This is the reply they sent me : "If it has a output or channel for the windows interface option it should work for you."
What do you make of that ?
Max Power 04-06-2005, 08:55 PM Then it should work. Basically to start with you will need to hook it up to power, ground and data. Then you should just need to touch the wire to ground that commands the windows up or down. If that works, I'll help you hook it up to the remote starter.
PalmValleyGMC 04-06-2005, 10:01 PM Alright, I'll let ya know when I get it, and if it passes that test.
Thanks
b_gable 04-12-2005, 12:18 PM Alright, I'll let ya know when I get it, and if it passes that test.
Thanks
Did you ever get this module hooked up and working or did it fail?
Brad
PalmValleyGMC 04-12-2005, 10:29 PM No not yet ! The guy that works there gave me the phone # to Periphials and I tried to call them for a couple days with no responce. This is a new item so the place that's sending it to me doesn't have any info on it, so he told me to call them to find out the specifics that I wanted to know about it. Since I couldn't get a hold of Periphials the guy is just going to send it to me to see if it will work. I'll let ya know as soon as I get.
PalmValleyGMC 04-18-2005, 02:43 PM No Go. I tried it and it did not work. I did get a hold of their tech support and the guy said it would work on 03' and 04' so if you have that year vehicle give it a try, give tech support a call first so you don't blam it on me if it doesn't work. I'm not sure why it would work on an 04' but not an 05' go figure.
