just installed the predator tunner on the lly this a.m. , my question is approx. how long do you have to drive it , for the allison to learn it !!
it seems to shift erraticly now and from what ive read thats not uncommon !! i set it on the (65 tune) the truck has 575 miles on it ??
any help with this would be great !!!!

thanx the05hd :)

Make sure you drive it like normal. Time varies on how much stop and go driving you do and how much you drive it on a daily basis. It could learn in a day or take a week. Mind learned within a day.

Several days, I went to the 85 tune for awhile and then back to the 65 and it seemed to help it out alot.

The learning isn't based on amount of time, its learns based on shifting all together. Alot more drive/go and romping will make it learn. The trans learning works like this I believe.. When you are running hard, and if shifts too slow, it will begin to shift faster to accommodate driving patterns, and when you drive slow when its learned to shift fast/hard, then it will start to shift slower. From what I have heard mention of, 20-30 shifts per gear, driving in the manner which you want it to shift (driving fast/aggressive shifting, or slow grandma shifting..), will make it learn and behave the way you need..

do a search, and you will find the recomended way is to drop the gear selector into 1st gear at 55mph, foot off of gas let it downshift and coast to a stop, turn off ing.
Do it two more times. Your done

NO! Do ANOTHER search and you will see that Allison says that this is NOT the way to do it.

I agree, just drive it. It has also been suggested to give the truck a day or 2 off if possible and the truck runs better. Mine has come leaps and bounds over when I first installed the Predator, still has some learning to do though...

I put my Predator on last week. I live close enough that I drove up to J.Kennedy to pick it up. We loaded it setting in the driveway. Some up and down shifting through a couple of small towns, and by the time I got back to the interstate, pretty much a done deal. 135 mile trip home. Made a coffee break and shut off truck and set about ten minutes. When I got back on the highway, the Predator was talking real sweeeeeet :ro)

Now I just need to find someone loacally to install some A-Piler gauges.

Mine was the same way..
Shifting was sooooo bad at first I almos set it back to stock and returned the thing!

Make sure you pull the onstar/info fuse out when you program... I didn't at first.... Then I decided to reinstall the 65hp setting, and I pulled the fuse.
You'd be suprised how much better the shifting is now.

The truck really runs.):h

Yes... ......Like he said.... the instructions tell you to pull 3 fuses. Pretty simple. I had dmaxalliTech(Eric) do mine. Just because he's done so many installs. And I might add ;) . You can put the Alli in a fast learn with the Tech II.....
I just love my truck now!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I did the Down shift theory before, yes 3 times in a row and stopped at Eric's immediately to see what the Tech II said. It really doesn't help the fast learn........ unless the Tech II was lying.
