Diesel Power 03-29-2005, 04:06 AM i looked in my 2002 helm manual (all i have) but i remembered the radio is different. it didn't have a remote amp turnon.
mangus580 03-29-2005, 08:02 AM IIRC... they dont use a remote turn on wire. the amp is turned on using the serial bus, just like the retained power for the radio is. I spent hours chasing the RAP in my impala only to find out there is no such thing anymore. You might want to look at some of the bigtime aftermarket places, the might make an adapter that can hook into the serial bus to detect when to turn the amp on.
Salmonbum 03-29-2005, 09:07 AM I don't know if it has one, but we use to tie the remote on to a fuse in the fuse panel, like for a power antennea or something. There has to be some fuse that suppies power only when the key is on. Just need to find one of those and use that.
ratlover 03-29-2005, 09:47 AM On my 03 there isnt a wire that goes hot when the radio is turned on. Talk to blueox, I think there is a adapter or something to turn the signal into a hot. You could to ing hot or a switch though. Maybe someone knows of a power antena or something else though.....
cheeky 03-29-2005, 11:17 AM Thanks Guys I'm pissed when I tried to pull the stock deck out to see if there was one there I scratched my heater controls a bit
http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/badidea.gif Man are the wires behind there tight
flduramax 03-29-2005, 06:38 PM You cant just pull the radio out of an 03 or newer truck. If you dont put an ONSTAR adapter back in, the truck will not run. Even if your truck does not have Onstar, with out the factory radio, the truck thinks it has been stolen and does not always start properly or at all. I had this problem with mine. Took the factory radio out and did not plug the aftermarket module in for a few days. I needed to reinstall the factory radio and then remove it and plug the bypass module in within a few minutes.
Gonfishin 03-29-2005, 07:13 PM On my 05 I tied into the (TBC ACCY) fuse in the fuse box on the drivers side at the end of the dash. It is hot when the key is in the accy position and the run position. I dont have the Bose equiptment so I can't speak on that. Let me say I am in no way any sort of electrical whiz  so I cannot tell you this is the best place for the remote wire. I can tell you I have been running my amp like this for about a month.

Then your amp is always on, even if the radio is off....
Gonfishin 03-29-2005, 07:55 PM Good point you are correct. I never thought to check that because whenever the truck is on I have the radio on....Hmmmm back to the drawing board.
flduramax 03-29-2005, 08:01 PM if no onstar you need this part

Is that for aftermarket head units only? I have a xm skyfi that I'm tryng to find a power source to plug into that stays on after shutoff and until I open the door. That seems to be the ticket but can't quite figure out if that is for aftermarket unit only.
cheeky 03-30-2005, 02:20 PM Gonfishing I tied into the same fuse, My stereo is almost always on so it's not a big deal if the amp is on when the key is on.

Yeah, I mean I always have the music on so I don't see where that would be a big deal for me. Would it hurt anything, other than having the amp run a little more?
Gonfishin 03-30-2005, 04:34 PM I am not saying its right but that's how I've had mine hooked up for a little over a month. Maybe someone has a better idea. I am sure the interface that 04gmcmax spoke of is great but since I am not chaging my stock H.U. Its a little pricey just for a remote amp turn on.
Rick.
