I did the pcv re-route today and while i was there I wanted to eliminate the air silencer. I found a 2" fernco cap that fit pretty nice. Just wanted to check if anyone had problems using this fernco? I read someone used a freezeout plug....that scare's me a little if ever got lose...Thanks

A 2" plumbers plug works perfect. Be sure to put a jam nut over the wing or use a nylon lock nut. You can reinstall the resonator right over the top of it.

A 2" cap is what I used.I have had zero problems with it.You just can't reinstall the resonator over it but that didn't bother me I wanted to clean up the clutter in the engine bay a little bit anyway.

I put a 2" ABS cap in there and used the original clamp. No resonator but I like looking at my engine, I don't need a piece of plastic to tell me what it is.

Question for someone - What is the air silencer? Is it the plastic piece stamped with 6.6 liter on top of the engine and does it help anything to delete this?

Yeah... it's really called a resonator.

BTW, if you get a test plug like this one, you can just re-install your resonator back in place and nobody is any the wiser... plus you're truck will now be safe from the #$%^& thing splitting and letting unfiltered air into your very expensive engine...

Just be sure to use a lock washer or a jam nut to lock that puppy in place, otherwise you risk dropping a bolt into your turbo... something you don't want to do.
