I was towing a 5,000 lb trailer last Saturday an noticed my SES light came on when I was climbing fairly large grades. I was using setting 2 on my Attitude. When I came to fairly level terrain, the SES light turned off. I put it on a code reader and did not get a code. Any ideas guys? At the time, I was running about 1000 egt and 14-16 psi of boost.

I bet it has something to do with your k&n. Mine was dirty as heck. I cleaned it and also had to clean my MAF. Do the same and you won't have the SES come on again. Just don't over oil your k$n.

If you read the Ford bulletins, you might even remove the K$N ... I now have an AFE in its place and a new MAF. While towing, I also had some SES lights ... a few starts later it would go away. [momentary high boost levels as I downshifted came up] When I talked to my GM at the dealership, he also noted that heavy dumping of fuel would sometimes set off a warning light and I should wait a day before bringing it in. He was right, the SES light went off in the next couple of days. The dealership I go to now has repeated the feedback though was willing to check it if I brought it in. I didn't have to.

Good luck!

This also happened when I turned my Attitude down to stock setting. What I will do is clean if not replace the MAF sensor and pull the K&N and stick a normal cotton filter in it for now.

what type of code reader did you use? i'd be really surprised to not see anything if SES was on. even after it competes its diags enough to turn off the light the code should still be there unless you cleared it, even if its a MAF code. some people who have over oiled or used an intake with a reloacted MAF have got a SES with a code stored.

It was just a cheap code reader they used at Auto Zone. I happened to be driving by and stopped in even with the ses not on.
