Judas priest....You have an axe to grind don't you?
You know, 90% of the members here are gearheads and would be interested in what you're doing with that motor...Gas or diesel really doesn't matter if a guy can make some decent power out of it.
So, if you feel so inclined as to clue us in, that would be cool....
Just don't make the accusations that aren't there...Noone asked if you were putting a dmax in your truck....

My axe should be plenty sharp in about 3 months time.

and NO to the other question.

Clue: pulling season start on june 10, avg hp in street legal is about 550hp with top hp being about 620hp. Chevrolet Justice is the name of the my pulling truck. and yes is my 2001 chev hd 8.1/ally which will become Chevrolet Justice.

Will be making a base line run on the 23rd of april at the 1/4mile

Judas priest: don't care if bands lead singer was light in the loafers, still made some good tunes.

Now where that grinding wheel??hmmm

Are you talking about the diesel street class, or are you talking about the gasser classes?

gasser

Hehe...let me guess...

4.56 gears with front e-locker
H2's rims with BFG AT's
new transmission toy
Long tube headers with cutouts for the drag strip.
stock heads with some extra stuff done by "tierod" my pulling club rules is why I am using stock appearing heads .
new intake manifold with BIG oval throttle body (mid-summer)
1.8 roller rockers
hptuners/laptop- ordered 3-27-5
WMP HD elec fans - ordered 3-26-5
"superdiesel" center track bar and my own tierod design.

How'd I do...just kidding..post copied from LS1tech...doesn't sound too bad, will be interesting to say the least...although if your going to hang with the top bombed Dmax's your definetly going to have to bring more to the table than that....hint FI or N20..trust me I know.

Only one cummins in the class, and he runs 8000.

and not really, should get me close to or over 500hp, without power adders. next winter will the bottom end upgrade. I see Raylar has a forged storker crank made by callies up on the site now, for sale. I think the ally will give up the ghost before Bottom end will. I am always good at abusing transmissions.

Question for anybody:

Any ideas on leaving the TC lock when shifting, assuming you could "reprogram" the trans to shift fast enough, have enough line pressure for the clultchs to grab. Only be doing this when drag racing. or is this an early death for the ally. ????

You better just upgrade the whole tranny.

what size cam are you running? are you shooting for 500rwhp or crank? I can't see those heads flowing enough to support a 500 rwhp unless tierod really hogs the heck out of 'em. My vote is for a custom F1 procharger setup.

first off trans TCU is going to be gone. And should only be at 600ftbls of torque maybe, So i am hoping she last for a little

Just an comp cams xr270. Gm has made 525hp on the stock casting on the hp3 before. and yes its crank hp.

Oh far s/c goes I am bound to the rule of my pulling clubs, gassers don't get poweradders. unless you run engine shields and move to mod or open class.

ATS co-pilot locks the converter...You would be better off buying at least the C1-C3 kit though, IMO. That way you get a triple disc convertor, co-pilot and clutch upgrades. If you can do the install yourself you could save some money.

I thought that the frictions were the same or like factory??? maybe not??

And what does the co-pilot do excatlly??

I know need atleast tc and transgo kit.

thanks for the info, guys.

A TC and a TransGo kit will work fine.

A transgo and TC will definitely hold what he will be running, I just thought he wanted to lock the converter earlier(co-pilot)

With the RPM range of the 8.1l it does matter as much. Hell the TC lockup never showed on my logged runs. Probably because it was slipping to much. Third was ugly I'm surprised it only went in to limp mod once. I know that the steels and clutches where rough looken when we pulled it apart. LOL

I will be able to lock tc when I want and start out in any gear I want to. Adjust shift timing, firmness, quickness, all "edited" though my laptop. but just got to get my transmission toy. so ssshhhh

Just thought I asked on what the thoughts were about holding the tc lock though shifts.

Thanks guys, looks like gear change will be push back, trans upgrade next.

anybody know were I get a 2500 or 2800 stall for an 8.1 ally combo????
anybody???

You could probably talk to Joe at suncoast and he should be able to get a converter to stall were ever you want it if you tell em about what your motor will be running power wise ect. ATS and TTS could probably do it too......I would think a single disk would work fine for you
