My next upgrade is a turbo. I am considering a GT40 or GT42, or MPI twins. I know that this has been probably kicked around a thousand times, sorry. I drive the truck everyday, but we also run sand and asphalt drags and sled pull. I would say pulling is bigger out here, that is what I do most. Upsides/downsides/suggestions. It is hard to get any real world advice locally, help would be apreciated. Thanks

IMO twins you can't beat for egts. If your going to do pulling than a single turbo is what you'll want so you can be put in a appropriate class.

twins are the way to go, if your truck is a daily driver you will want the response of what the twins will give you. A big single does work great for truck pulls but if you drive your truck all the time and if you ever tow I would say you will be much happier with the twins.

x3 twins are freaking amazing especially if you drive your truck everyday.

At what point do I need head studs?, I'm really torn on the turbos as my local is a dealer for ppe/garrett and I can get some really awsome pricing. What about tuning on the twins? EFI Live required?, I plan on going to EFI in the future but I am waiting for my local shop to get good with it, and waiting for the 5 position switch for my truck, as I drive it everyday.

Ok your going to get a few opinions on this question.
It is hit or miss with stock head bolts... Idaho Rob has ran 11's on both his trucks with MPI Twins and stock head bolts some blow headgaskets with stock turbo/edge.
And honestly not to insult your local shop or you but don't be stupid about who tunes your truck... I would never "wait" for a shop to get good with EFI Live. Idaho Rob and Tony Moonshine have LOTS AND LOTS of Twin tuning experience. Idaho Rob has probably tuned well over 25+ LLY/LBZ/LMM's. With twins your going to need EFI Live to get the maximum results with them. Im sure if you bought Twins from MPI(IdahoCTD) Idaho Rob will give you a good price on tuning it.

This will never be released for an 06 LLY/LBZ/LMM as there are no extra pins for the ECM. The only way you'll be able to switch on the fly will be having your EFI Live V2 connected to your OBDII port and that isn't even out yet. So ultimately there is no point to wait on some local shop because you'll need your own EFI Live box and when you buy EFI Live from a vendor they always give you a free tune
