I have the plug and play harness for my old 01 truck. I think that I remember that there was a change and one of the wires needs moved on the truck side of the harness. I have searched but cannot find the right thing. Does anyone know if it possible to use the harness from an 01 on an 05. Thanks for your help.

thanks

It changed in 03 when they rewired eveything. You're on the right track, you just need to change a couple wires around in the plug to the truck. IIRC there's a pin out on the prodigy's mfr site. I have it someplace, I'll see if I have it with me(on the road now)....

are you saying the change that happened to the wiring harness in 03 is the same as the 05 harness? i plugged the harness from the 03 that i had into my current 05,should i remove and rewire the controler into the 05 harness? i have not towed with the truck but did plug the trailer in to check, seemed ok parked ? thank you for any input

I found this one out the hard way. Some uninformed yahoo at the local trailer shop sold me an earlier harness. I took off on a trip to Sacramento wondering why the brakes on my camper didn't seem to be doing much. Well, when the headlights automatically came on going about 65 down the freeway, I came to a rather abrupt stop. It turns out that GM moved the signal wire to the headlight slot on the plug.:badidea: A rather frustrated call back to the trailer shop yielded the info. Just moved the two wires and pluged it back in. Away we went.

All you need to do is flip-flop the blue and brown wires in the plug and you are good to go.............. or stop.

Your harness is fine for the 05. It was for the year 03 that GM changed things. So harness for year 02 or older will need to be changed..

just need to swap the light blue wire and the brown wire in the plug end of the harness that plugs into your power panel.
