I just picked up my '06 on Saturday and am pretty much in love with it. I am changing the oil & filter soon, along with the tranny filter, air filter, & fuel filter.

The question I have is are all Duramax Fuel filters the same? The farm I work for got rid of the 2 duramax's they had. One was an LB7, the other and LBZ. They happen to have 2 extra fuel filters there that I can take, but I need to know if they'll work or not. They look to be the same but that's just looking at them, not checking part #'s.

Not sure about the filters but... make SURE your round gaskets is seated properly and is on correctly. Also make sure the filter screws on ALL the way before starting the truck. The first time I did mine, I didn't catch the gasket fall off and thought the filter was on all the way. A fifteen minute job took me two flippin hours to get it figured out, re-primed/bleed several times to finally get it started! It's very simple to do but boy, one slight oversight will turn into a nightmare!

The Duramax fuel filter went thru several iterations before GM got it right.

The original LB7 started with TP1298 (GM97256734)
Then they came out with TP1298A (GM97385488)
The current one is TP1298B (GM98017645) is the one to use for all DM's.

X2...in 2005, there were changes to the filter media (double pleat design), as well as to the standard filtering efficiency. If it were me, I would spend a little extra and get a newer filter.

there are the same filter they will fit all duramax pick up but not the van.
