: LLY Predator - DIC Mileage Accuracy?

My father-in-law got a Predator for his LLY. He said he is seeing quite an MPG increase over the first 30K with the 40 HP tune installed. His question to me was the DIC still accurate. I know with the Juice it is not, but have not heard one way or the other about the Predator. He does not fill up at stations, so can't hand calculate to verify. (He get's free fuel from the company he works for :cool2: and refuses to give up that just to see if the DIC is right. Can't say I blame him with the prices right now.) I would think it would be okay since there isn't a box lying to the computer, but since I have an LB7 and am DIC-less ):h , I'm not sure. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks,
Chris

I had a near 27mpg DIC reading net me 18.8mpg so yes it is off.

I am pretty sure any box will mess up the DIC mileage. I am sure that if he is seeing a big increase in mileage that it is wrong because from my experience you won't gain more than 1-2 mpg with a box.

Most (if not all) tuners mess the DIC mileage readings up. The bigger the tune, generally the worse the error.

Thanks guys. I told him he should see some increase since he is a VERY conservative driver, but said he should check with hand calculations. He have never hand calculated this truck, so he doesn't know how accurate the DIC is to start with.

Did he change the tire size as well as add the predator?
i just put my predator on last week, have not changed the tire size yet. i noticed a drastic increase on the dic as far a mileage. So, i checked the speedo with my GPS, you guessed it, i am now showing approximately 4-5 MPH faster on the speedo. So, i would think it would be closer if i adjusted the speedo down. But, then i would just have to go back up when i get new tires, hopefully when the taxes come back.

No tire change. Are you saying the Predator messes up your speedometer reading with stock tires?

Predator is much farther off compared to the Juice.. And from previous discussions, the Juice is only marginally off..

not sure why the speedo changed unless the predator automatically adjusts the tire size if you don't change it??
I just know mine is now off, all i need to do is reprogram it for the tires that are on now (stock)

If the Predator changed your tire size from default without you setting a new size, that is a big bug . I got the Predator to change tire sizes on my truck because I hate having the speedo Censored off. It would be bad for people who got it for something else and just assumed there would be no change if you have the OEM tire size. Let us know if you get it corrected by putting in the stock size and reloading the tune. I will inform the father-in-law if it works for you. Since the Pred changes tables, I would think it should not mess up the DIC mileage like the Juice because the Juice is lying :lying: to both sides so to speak. Of course, I guess when the pred changes a table it could be one of the values used to calculate mileage and mess it up that way.
