: Long lasting tires

I am trying to get real reviews from real trucks, I'm tired of reading that tires last 60K miles on a lightweight SUV or an F-150 Lightning. I need some new 305-50-R20 tires (which already narrows the field quite a bit) and want some that will last me longer than the Cooper ZEON XSTs did. They only lasted me about 15,000 miles and are bald enough I got a ticket for them tonight (my cheater slicks have more tread). I know that no tire is going to last as long for me as it will for most others - I am VERY hard on tires. I drive on my race tune all the time and enjoy embarassing sports cars, drifting corners, and burn outs from a 45mph roll; but will try to be more gentle on my next set. I would like to stick with something under $150 per tire. Has anyone hade GoodYeay Eagle GT II tires on one of our trucks? I'm in NC so it's mostly summer driving with quite a bit of wet driving as well.

From my experiance generally the longest lasting tires are from Michiline...but with burn outs etc....what can you really expect...lol. The AT2's seem to last the longest for all terrain tires. But obviously they are more then $150, closer to $200.

I don't expect miracles out of the tires but 15K miles seems pretty low. I can get a great deal on GoodYear Eagle GT II tires. Does anyone have experiance with those on a heavy vehicle?

Here is a list of the street tires under $170 that come in a 305-50R20 so if you have experience with any of these on a diesel pickup let me know how they did.

Figured I would bring this thread back from the dead rather than start a new thread. A couple weeks after posting this thread my engine finally let go so I put off getting tires while collecting parts to build a motor.

Anyway now that it's getting close to having my truck back on the street I started shopping for tires again. I ended up finding these
Kelly Fierce ST tireshttp://www.kelly-springfield.com/kellytires/graphics/Tires/full/fierce_st.jpg (http://www.kelly-springfield.com/kellytires/display_tire.jsp?prodline=Fierce+ST&mrktarea=Light+Truck)

They have a UTQG treadwear rating of 540 - the highest I found in this size tire
They are a 120H so they are:
speed rated to 130mph - I won't be racing on them anyway and the lower the speed rating the longer they typically last on the street
They have a 120 load rating - 3080 lbs and should be fine for my truck and towing.

The only thing I don't like about them is that they are directional, I wanted to get away from that and be able to rotate them not just switch front to back.

They'll be here today and I will try to remember to post my review of them after some use. I'll be driving with them daily and towing on them - I have cheater slicks to race on and some other pulling tires. I plan to stick to a 500+hp daily driver tune and take it a little easy on this set.

Guess you guys didn't read all the way through. The most recent post was me saying that I bought some Kelly tires. They got here yesterday and look great - we'll see how they do.

Toyos are out of the price range I want to spend on tires with how I treat them and I'm looking for more of a street tire.

Sorry, mine is 4WD and A TRUCK, it uses bigger tires...
If you are talking about the Ford don't you mean a heavy, slow TANK???

Mine is 4WD and A TRUCK as well. I race it most weekends, sled pull with it when I can, drive it daily, and tow with it whenever needed. 305-50-R20s are 32 x 12, quite a bit bigger and much wider than stock. I have a Bronco II with 39.5s if I need something with bigger tires.

BTW, I ran Toyo Open Country AT's on my LX470 and got 50k out of them. Could have run another 10k, but sold the rig before I replaced them.

They new Michelin AT2 looks impressive and the LTX M/S always is a good 80k tire if properly cared for. I got 130k out of them on a Tacoma once!!!
