After haveing my 6.5 TD pack it in last week I have been trying to get info on the newer "high nickel" block that is not as prone to cracking as my 95 was. Unfortunitly the General is unable or unwilling to tell me if the long block that they are selling is the high nickel or not.
My question is, has anyone had an engine replced by General motors lately and was it the new block? I would also like to know if it came with a timeing chain or with gears and if the heads had the brass insert modification that is again to reduce cracking problems.
I have found the long block thru a place in sask. that does have these new blocks and mods but the warranty is not as good and the cost to ship it here and get it installed is a lot higher.
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!
