i was going about 45-50 and no tires were slipping i just got off an ice gravel road and turned on to the pavement. after i turned on at about 20ish i let off throttle pushed button waited a few sec as normal then continued down the road an i would say i got about 3/4 to 1 mile down the road going up a slight incline (driving normal no lead foot) and BAMO! it felt like i just hit a frickin boulder in the middle of the highway, then i was like WTF:eek:. thanks for any input guys.

Sometimes if your front and rear tires have worn differently, effectively makeing the diameter slightly different the front diff will bind so it won't disengage right away. When it does disengage it will usually pop or bang as the front and rear axles are bound up.
My bet is your tires have some wear on them, hell even new tires have slightly different diameters.

has anyone had any problems with the actuator in the front diff? it snowed today and i had to use my 4wd and it seemed to engage a bit slower than norm, so i was thinking it is related to my harsh disengage?
any thoughts? truck has 184000 and some change.
