Will any brand of tranny cooler work? Can't one just go to the local parts store and buy one?

What he said. Is there anything bad about going to the parts store (especially since I work at one) and pick up the biggest/best aftermarket cooler available and add it to the existing cooler? Don't tell me no one else has tried it.

Im not 100% sure, but with the cooler line size, and GPM of the pump in the allison, you probably cannot get a universal cooler, the lines wont match up and it would restrict flow, and build pressure behind the cooler if you did. It is probably similar to the Dodge auto (1/2)+ line size.Us Dodge guys use the B&M engime oil coolers, they have 1/2" lines,hi GPM flow rates, and are 1.5" thich stacked plate cooler, you can get them with or without an automatic fan.If they meet the flow/pressure requirements of the allison there's no reason you cannot use them. http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=b%26M+super+cooler&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.aspor http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=b%26M+super+cooler&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=.0&target=egnsearch.asp
Both these coolers should be more than adequete, and you can get them without the fans as well

Would suggest you contact Mike L. for the cooler.
It is a "drop in unit". No bending, splicing, adapting, praying.
His cooler is designed to replace "exactly" the OEM unit.
Good luck.

Mike posted a price.
One would assume that all the pieces have come together.
Only Mike L can answer that question.
And if it is another week off, I would be willing to wait.
Mike L, now is the time to chime in.
