: Nexus guages
Diesel Dragon 03-27-2005, 08:12 PM I installed my new Nexus guages this weekend, with a new 3 guage pod.
The pod hole for the factory speaker was off by about 3/4 of the speaker, of coure it was painted already so I cut a new hole with a hole saw and trimmed it with the dremel, looks alright for now till I get another one.
The guages work good, I got the EGT and a Oil temp that I hooked up to the engine. The EGT is a little slower to respond than my SPA guage was but still good.
The oil temp works good, seems our trucks build heat into the oil as fast as the water. Went for a ride in town and oil caught up to water temp by the time they got to 185deg. Went for a little blast and the oil temp got up to 200-210
Pretty much following the water temp.
I'll see more this summer when it get's hot or when I pull my trailer.
The guages look good with the diffrent light backgrounds and adjustable light level, the guages are almost black faced when there not on. And you can set the peak warning temps and low pressure warning's too. You can also record what the guages do by pushing the record button on the remote. Up to 30 sec I think, haven't tried that yet, plus you can get a expansion card to record up to 10 minutes of use.
Have to wait till the boost guage and lower pressure fuel guage come out to add them in.
I'll see if I can take some pic's soon and post them
GMC-2002-Dmax 03-27-2005, 08:23 PM :cool2:
I was just looking at them..............
They are EXPENSIVE...............:wtf1:
They are cool.............pics would be awesome as I may be getting a set but I need FIVE GAUGES..............:help2: :help2: :help2:
So what was the total damage on those gauges/setup?
Max Power 03-27-2005, 08:28 PM I'm interested in price as well. I think their boost only goes up to 30psi :( is that correct?
3500dmax 03-27-2005, 09:12 PM The Nexus gauges look nice but outrageous!!! They said they plan on releasing more gauges down the road but right now all they offer is a 30psi boost gauge. A boost and egt setup will cost you over $500
Diesel Dragon 03-27-2005, 10:15 PM The first thing you have to buy is a control module and remote which is $200 at Sumitt. It controls all the guages, you need it for 1 guage or 7. 3 wires to hook up 1 constant 12v, 1 switched 12v, and 1 ground, all 22 guage wire. Then all the sensors plug into the control module, which I put under the dash. Then one wire which is 4- 22 guage wires bundeled together goes up to the first guage, then a short piece of wiring plugs into the first guage and goes to the second guage, then third guage plugs into second guage and so on. Must be some kind of computer control that 4 wires can power and run 7+ guages together. I think the guages are motor driven, when you turn them on and off and the guages do a full sweep you can hear them ake noise as the needle moves.
The Egt guage was $230
The oil temp guage was $200
They are expensive but I wanted something diffrent.
And my Spa guage was expensive too $300+ for a 2 guage head, and it's on it's 3rd head and 2nd pyro sensor, and now the 3rd heads light is burned out again, I am tired of that guages BS
They have only 7 guages out for now and not all the ones we need, mostly for gasers.
The boost guage is a vacum guage too so thats no good for us. They also have a high fuel press guage, a oil press guage, water temp, nitrous press and 1 more I cant remember.
Talked to the guy at Autometer and he said more guages should be out later this year.
Told him not to forget us Diesel guy's and he said they won't
All in all there good so far but time will tell if they were worth the money, and I'm sure the price will come down once they start getting older.

I'd like to see them in person ,might be a little "Hey Homie That's :phatyo:,yoo" for me. :D
Diesel Dragon 03-28-2005, 03:22 PM Ok here's a test picture let's see if it work's (why are the pictures always so small? If you click on it, it will enlarge)
Diesel Dragon 03-28-2005, 03:27 PM Ok here's the rest of them, sorry for the small size, hmmm why do I always seem to be saying that?
Diesel Dragon 03-28-2005, 03:32 PM And here's the chrome trim rings around the guages. Got it from JP Custom's, it's made for the gassers and there's just a small extra plastic alignment pin on the backside that I had to dremel off. And a white stripe visible on top of the factory guage cluster I had too cover with a black marker, you can't really notice it.
Trippin 03-28-2005, 05:06 PM DD,
I think they look nice, I've been waiting to see some in person, might be another SPA convert right here. Have you tried the recall/playback feature yet?:bounce:
:phatyo: :bling:
Diesel Dragon 03-28-2005, 06:25 PM Haven't tried it yet but I will. It's supposed to record about 35 seconds of info.
Talked to the Nexus guy at Autometer today and he said a few more Guages should be out this summer, including a 0-35psi and 0-60 psi boost guages. Then some more later in the year.
And the software to be able to record about 30 minutes of info should be out later this summer too.
There going to send me a 6' foot extension wire for free that will run from my a-pillar to my overhead console that has a Trippin designed and manufactured 2 guage with 2 extra switch's holder, beautiful piece of craftsmanship, that I would highly recommend to anyone. (How's that for a plug Guy) ;)
If you look you'll notice that the light in the Spa guage is out again. The 3rd one now :(
moss022 03-28-2005, 06:41 PM how many egt guages actually go more than 1600*? besides the digtal ones
3500dmax 03-28-2005, 08:34 PM Love the colors hate the chrome ring and the remote isn't wireless

jnieberlein 03-29-2005, 12:39 AM Diesel Dragon,
What kinda, color paint is that on your "A" pilliar? I have been having a hellova time geting mine to match tired of spending $9 a can on the wrong color spray paint
Diesel Dragon 03-29-2005, 01:18 AM Not really sure on color, the body shop painted it for me.
:confuzeld
sp33d 03-29-2005, 01:20 AM Diesel Dragon, are the bezels chrome or silver? They look Chrome on the Autometer web site but your pictures make them look silver, and the summit site indicates a silver bezel.
Diesel Power 03-29-2005, 01:35 AM uh ohh... i smell bling bling in someone's LLY:bling:
3500dmax 03-29-2005, 01:46 AM Do you have any pictures of the control module and is that where the remote is wired up to? Where did you buy the gauges and how long did it take?
Diesel Dragon 03-29-2005, 09:22 PM sp33d,
The bezels are silver colored, sort of a shiny silver not flat silver colored. Almost like chrome wanna-be's.
3500dmax,
I didn't get any pictures of the module before I put the dash panel's back on, next time I take the panels off for something I'll take some pictures for you, the box is about 4" wide X 6" long X 1" deep. The reomote plugs into it, as do all the diffrent sending unit plug's and the power wire and the wire that goes up to the first guage. I put it on top of one of the HVAC duct's under the dash.
I bought the guages at Summit racing equipment, and since one of there warehouses is in Ohio I had them in 3 days.
Here's the link to the web site page.

Checked a few other places and some were much more expensive and other's were same price so I got them there cuz their close for delivery time and have a lot of other parts if you need something else.
