: Remote start not cranking long enough this winter...why?

It doesn't crank it long enough to start it on these cold days. I just bought the truck last January, and it was only here for a few weeks before going south to escape winter, but I remember the remote start worked when it was cold then. It also worked in the summer. Just seems now that it's cold, the crank time is very short, obviously not long enough to start.

I can start it fine with the key, just gotta hold it an extra second.

Is the crank time adjustable on these things? Maybe something got reset when I replaced the batteries?? The new batteries are 1000CCA's each, and thats higher than what was in there before.

Ideas? thanks

on my 6.5 i had a remote start and if i remember correctly then there is a way to adjust how long it cranks for. have yourself a look in the owners manual and it should point you in the right direction

Reset the tach signal. Hopefully a tach source was used rather than voltage sense.

I already tried doing that, but they have TOO many online manuals and I have no way of knowing what model my system is. I already went thru a few manuals and none of them were with remote start, so I guess I need to find a way to know what model I have.

Not quite following you there....could you please explain both types? Maybe my voltage issue(which still seems borderline problem/normal) has something to do with it? I still think something was reset when I put in the new batteries.

i had a viper remote start on my previous truck and if the truck didnt start after the first crank it would continue to crank until it started. problem was that i would carry the keys around in my pocket and i found that i was bumping the button and starting the truck at random times.
