Whose brand tire is getting the most miles out of them and how good do they work?

I would take a guess and say Michelins are up there at the top as far as mileage goes. I don't run them now but got over 60K on a set before.

Vote #2 for Michelins. I usually get 60-70k out of a set minimum.

On my chevy van I couldn't get 30K miles out of Michelin's, but consistenly got 45K our of Les shwab wild country APT. The wild country's were quiter and handled better to boot. These were 15" LT tires, the 16 truck tires could be a different story.

run em on all our work trucks, as well as all my own, swapped out the stock tires for a set of 265 LTX MS. have been getting over 75,000 miles on them consistently

michelin all the way had many friends get 75 100 of a set IF you keep them aired up to the max. It makes a big difference if they are not aired up!

My opinion.. michelins are some of the best tires for longevity, they make some of the toughest tires for commercial and other use, and usually they are on higher end cars, lexus etc..

I can't ***** about the stock Bridgestones on my LLY, but they're not a long-life tire in this application!

However, I don't know if any of the non-commerical type tires are long life for most of us. I honestly don't do burnouts, but these tires aren't gonna go much over 25,000 the way they're wearing right now. The monster torque these diesels put out just eats the tires from what I see. The stockers were wearing fast even at stock power levels.

Can you handle a highway rib? If so, Bridgestone R250, Michelin XPS, Goodyear G647RSA. All steel sidewall. Cooper had the C120, super tire, but is discontinued. Each of the aforementioned tires will be around $200 out the door, but are worth it.

In your line of work you should run commercial tires. Cost a little more, ride rougher but give a lot more mileage.

Isn't anyone going to use the same brand of tire that came on their trucks from the General? With all their high powered engineers wouldn't GM have put the best tires, shocks, hell even windshield wipers on these trucks for the money we're paying for them? :o: What a freakin' joke! -:t

My POS General tires are at 18k miles, unfortunately they aren't deteriorating fast enough for ol' JJ. Looks like I need to set the E/J up to level 3/5 LBS and burn some rubber off those babies! This way Mama JJ won't give me a ration of crap about buying something else so soon after the exhaust! ;)

Oh yeah, Michelin's are definitely in my LLY's future! JJ :)

Add me to the Michelin club. Got 30K out of the Fireblows and got 25K on the Michelins now and they still look new plus have better traction both wet and dry.

Dad has 75k on the Michelins on his 2001 3500 running solo at 10,500 lbs. (equip truck). Still has nearly half the tread left (m/s) but he is experiencing dry rot cracks on the sidewalls. He will probably buy new tires in the next month or two.

Michelin XPS tractions x 6 on mine. Have only got 8000 or so on mine but they don't look used at all. A little noisy if you don't need the added traction. The XPS ribs that Mackin uses are supposed to be the best for wearing, so long as you stick a block of wood under the go pedal:) .

Which Yokos? Some might have better traction, but I am unaware of any that will out wear the Michelins or that are load rated.

Long lasting tires are often not the best in the traction area. To last long, the compounds have to be hard, hard tires don't grip very well when you need them to.

Especially if your climate gets cold, or it rains or snow alot.

Just my experience.

The last set of Coopers I put on a Dodge truck I used to own were too noisy. But they're priced very competitively. www.tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com) usually has very good prices on almost all brands.

On my '93, Bridgestone = 50k, Sumitimo = 50k, Michelin LTX/AT = 100k+. The last 1/3 of the tread on the Michelins was very hard and no traction. I could have gotten over 125k on them but it was dangerous on wet pavement.

I bought my truck with Coopers on them already. They seem to be good tires all and all, but I'll be replacing them with Michelin LTX/AT when the time comes.

Vote Michelin LTX M/S. 96,000 KLMs on them. Wearing pretty damn good. Expect to get another 30, 000 Klms? Haven't had a problem with wet traction. But I drive pretty civilized. Had the M/S's on my trucks for 11 years now.

I've got the Geolander AT's and so far they've been awesome. As far as wear, I've got almost 10K on them and they seem to be wearing alright. they have three steps on the tread blocks and I'm about halfway through the first one.

Edit: Forgot to mention in my size (285/75-r16) the yokohamas are rated for 3305#

Maybe I have been lucky with my Revos after reading the other posts about them. 25,000 miles and still ride as good as new. I do rotate them every 5000 miles and try to keep them properly inflated. Very smooth and stable ride; great on wet, slippery roads.

Don't go for Nitto Terra Grapplers, they ride nice, are cheap enough, but don't last as long as the OEM tires unfortunately. I have 20K on them and they are about whipped. Michelins or BFG's in my future, nothing else.

I am surprised at all the people getting 80k+ miles on the Michelins LTX M/S's. I had them on my 6.0 gasser and only got 50k and I drive pretty civilized. I bought them again because I like the ride, noise level, and it has a more 'truck-like' tread then the A/T. Not to mention, there are not many tires out there in the 265/285's sizes with the 'E' load rating.

I have to admit though, the Firestones on my 2000 had 50k on them and easily had another 25k. My buddy with a Furd, has 80k on his Firestones and still some life left.

On Edit:
BTW I run 50-55 in all when empty and jack it up to 80 in the rear and 55 in front when pulling the 5er.

TXGuppy,

The good commercial tires are only available in a few sizes. I looked up the Goodyear G133, it's only available in 235/85 and 245/75. Here is a link if you want to see more info.

I literally destroy tires - any tire! Load range E (10 ply) seem to give me my best tire mileage. I use 285X16. Toyo makes a good one in a commercial tire which gets noisy very soon. Kelly has a new one out this month which I will try (just sold my Toyo's - 14,000 miles to Guatemala - 17/32 new, after 15,000 miles had 14/32 left - but NOISY).
Best tire mileage - no question, hands down winner is US STEEL BANDED TIRES !!! Other than that, no tire gives great mileage in all conditions. But watch those kidneys on steel banded tires!

Those Toyo M-55's have a really loud "whine" don't they? :) Here about 2 years ago I found those at Les Schwab and loved the look, specs, etc. bought a set and before I went 2 miles down the freeway after having them put on I heard the whine and immediately knew the tires were not for me! Sadly I turned right around and went back and swapped them for another tire.

TopHog - Kelley (at least I think it is Kelly) is just releasing a new 10 ply E 285X16 this month. Tread is M&S, almost highway - should be very quiet. Haven't driven on Kelley for about 8 years, but I had good luck with them then. I have a set on order - will report when I get them.
