: Marine Injectors
xjbry 12-13-2008, 12:26 PM Got them from SS diesel. No complaints seem to work well. That extra 40 horse really kicks you in the ass. Anyway if you're considering getting a set of these google medallion. That's whats stamped on the injector body. Believe me you'll be glad you did.
RCpullerdude 12-13-2008, 12:28 PM I'll bet you any money that 40 horses is a placibo. If there is really 40 extra horses there, it's from worn out stock injectors, not the new ones being "marine" or "high out put."
Also, I reccomend only using known good Bosch injectors, nothing else.
Do a search for SS Diesel and marine injectors.
DieselCash 12-13-2008, 12:37 PM That is the big debate around here, does or how does marine injectors give you 40 extra horse power?
Just search and you will see many threads on this.
xjbry 12-13-2008, 12:37 PM I was kidding about the 40 ponies.
IamDave0887 12-13-2008, 02:13 PM I've never heard of medallion injectors. I wouldn't use anything but Bosch or Stanadyne's even if someone paid me. my truck stock had Bosch injectors and now its got Stanadynes from Heath Diesel.
Just remember you get what you pay for with injectors especially. Chinese injectors are total crap. Just remember they may say "genuine bosch injectors from china" or some BS like that doesn't mean they are.
I"m sticking with Heath for all my future injector purchases.
Also remember that these "marine" injectors will give you no difference without a chip or reflash.
just my $0.02

jifaire 12-13-2008, 03:11 PM Hey xjbry, how much did the UPS bill come to? They charge an arbitrary 'brokerage fee' for carrying stuff across the border, and it's usually big$$.
Inquiring Canuck minds want to know... we can never seem to end up with the same fee, so we can't figure out how UPS is charging it.
Diaric 12-13-2008, 03:17 PM sometimes its $25, but usually its around $50.
if i see ups on a site for shipping i'll usually look elsewhere. eg, i won't order from summit racing any more, but eastwood is easy, canpar and gst paid up front
IamDave0887 12-13-2008, 03:19 PM Hey xjbry, how much did the UPS bill come to? They charge an arbitrary 'brokerage fee' for carrying stuff across the border, and it's usually big$$.

Could it be something like a spin of this?
http://bp3.blogger.com/_fkHqPUkBuOU/R3QFpJg1ObI/AAAAAAAAABM/xmngUqapyvc/s320/wheel+of+fortune.jpg
jifaire 12-13-2008, 03:34 PM ROFL - yeah, Dave, it's like that.
I've had stuff shipped where the UPS brokerage fee darn-near equaled the item cost, Diaric..
I once had 2 identical parts (computer switches) shipped here via UPS - one got dinged with a $380 UPS fee, the other with a $75 UPS fee. Identical parts, identical weights, identical boxes... and nobody would/could tell me why.
UPS told me it was the government, customs told me that everybody gets charged the same paperwork fee and the extra is all UPS. The Feds showed me the rates - UPS told me off.
I hate UPS.
Diaric 12-13-2008, 03:47 PM its even worse, but cheaper sometimes, when its shipped UPS truck freight. then you have to hire your own broker at a couple hundred dollar hit.
a few minutes ago i was gonna order $250 from Jegs, the shipping, handling, oversize, brokerage/gst fee's came to $100. needless to say, its not ordered and neither will the $1500 worth of gears and such i was going to order later from them. they use fedex
and the flat goverenment gst fee on usps stuff is $5, go figure eh
DieselCash 12-13-2008, 03:53 PM Man, I thaught I had it bad being in Germany. I thank yall Canadians got it worst!
I will say when you ask for shipping to an APO AE the price usually doubles. I just dont understand why? The USPS pays for it to go to New York. Then Uncle Sam pays the rest of the way. Their is one stupid form you need to fill out. But, Does it cost double the price to fill out that form?
I hate shipping cost!
Another reason why I cant wait to get back to the USA! Less than 12 months!
jifaire 12-13-2008, 03:54 PM Yep - but with FedEx, you know what it's gonna come out to in advance. With UPS, it's like Dave said... step right up folks, give the wheel a big spin...
I had a head shipped up here for my kids' Daytona - shipping went through an independent brokerage - cost $60 for a $335 head (new). Shipping was $35. The head up here (used) was $650
Still worth it, but you gotta know before you say 'Ship it', and friggin UPS won't tell you.
Diaric 12-13-2008, 03:57 PM But the UPS driver is always so friendly and smiling at your door when he puts his hand out for the cash you never have in your pocket
edzzed 12-13-2008, 06:49 PM count me as another canuck who absolutely will not buy from anyone who ships solely via UPS. for the last few years i have avoided UPS like the plague. i do a fair bit of buying on the big auction site and when i find something i need/want i ask the seller a question. will you ship via the post office as a condition of me bidding. if they say it has to go UPS i offer them a choice the post office or fedex as i will know all the costs prior to bidding. and if a seller ships it via UPS after i purchase it i will file a paypal claim and point to the email question i asked the seller. and then ask paypal to refund me the difference minus the 5.00 border charge. haven't had to do that yet but am prepared with an electronic trail..... Ed
jbsaxman 12-13-2008, 07:27 PM FWIW, I know that it can sometimes be more money to have companies ship to Canada than it would be to ship it stateside and then have someone ship it up. I'll offer my services if anyone is interested. I'm sure there's a carrier that isn't going to charge an arm and a leg to ship to Canada. DHL or Fedex or something.
JMJNet 12-13-2008, 07:33 PM DHL is out of business.
jifaire 12-13-2008, 07:52 PM You've got a good plan there, Ed.
jbsaxman, you are right... it DOES cost more to ship something from the lower 48 to Canada. $5 more. That's what the Border fee is for clearance on USPS packages.
FedEx or other couriers will charge a set fee based on value, size, etc.
I'm good with that. UPS carges whatever they bloody well FEEL like charging on any given day... I won't do business with anyone who chips cross-border with them.
IN Canada, different story... UPS is fine as a courier... it's just that cross-border crap I won't pay the crooks for.
jifaire 12-13-2008, 07:53 PM This, incidentally, is only one reason why I refuse to do business with SSDieselSupply... it's a history thing.
IamDave0887 12-13-2008, 08:48 PM i once shipped WhiteK2500 a headlight switch. $25 part from the local yard, $20 shipping(the place only shipped via UPS so i'm not doing business with them anymore for over the border shipping) and he said UPS charged him $20-25 for the fee. wtf? UPS are crooks when it comes to the US/Canada border and it seems they won't tell us why either.
matuva 12-13-2008, 09:38 PM ---I hate UPS.
so do I---
xjbry 12-14-2008, 10:57 AM No I didn't get bit by UPS. My Dad was going down to Buffalo for the weekend and he picked them up for me. Only a couple hour drive from Toronto. I wouldn't order from them otherwise.
HamOP 12-14-2008, 11:18 AM Several years ago I did a couple of jobs at Dorval (Montreal) and two things happened at the same time. I needed a part that we had in stock in Memphis, and it was my weekend to go home. So, to save time and $$$, I picked the part up, along with the invoice, and headed back to Good Old Canada. We had bought the part a few years earlier and it was just sitting there, in Memphis, in stock. Canadian Customs called the original mfg and got a price from them that was double what we paid for the thing years earlier - Which was double what I had on the invoice. Eight (8) hours later, with threats of putting me in a cell with Jaques The Horney Lumberjack, I was let go after paying a fine that came to more than the part would have cost new + the shipping!
Bottom line --- Don't screw with Canadian Customs! They can bite!!
will92104 12-14-2008, 11:57 AM you guys got it bad.. I live in california and i won't even let anybody ship to me via UPS. These guys down here can't seem to find my address. They have delivered a few things to the wrong address. UPS sucks here
1994ch 12-14-2008, 12:20 PM I understand why some of yall don't like UPS, but I personally love them. That may have somthing to do with the fact that they deliver to the door. USPS requires me to make a hour round trip into town if it is larger than a shoe box.
ROFL This thread sure got off topic.
Diaric 12-14-2008, 12:24 PM ROFL This thread sure got off topic.
sure did, it needs its own topic but some of us may be done venting
I enjoy their service, its the abbitrary rape the hand out for "brokerage" that is a turn off
Deeslfxr 12-14-2008, 12:37 PM I have a question that might be a bit more on topic; If a guy knew a good injection shop, could stock injectors be rebuilt to marine/hi-pop specs?
DieselCash 12-14-2008, 12:48 PM I have a question that might be a bit more on topic; If a guy knew a good injection shop, could stock injectors be rebuilt to marine/hi-pop specs?

DieselCash 12-14-2008, 02:21 PM How much you wanna bet they're drop-shipped from the Hung-Bo Machine Works in Bejiing?

I wouldnt' doubt it at all.
chevyinlinesix 01-06-2009, 11:26 PM Well I did what I would call A LOT of research on this business. Looked up their location on their site, Google earthed it, it looked pretty small, however not very far north from there there is what looks like a large building and large parking lot. So I found the home page for the city, nice place. Went to the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce site, searched their directory for "Medallion Injectors" no luck. So I started manually searching by directory no luck. Closest business I could find to it was Partylite, 194 N. Marguerita, CA 91801, phone number (626) 457-9525. I found a home listing of 101 S. Marguerita Ave. but will not post the number. May call the closest local business to them and ask about Medallion. I can not reverse look up their phone number either. I gave them a call after hours, it said "Hi, this is Allen from Medallion Diesel Products, I'm not in but if you leave a message...." hung up. Long distance from where I am. Will shoot them an E-mail too. I think it's very strange how I can't find ANY information on this company at all. Thought I'd do a little investigation on them for everyone, as I saw a few other posts mention them and got curious.
wespierce 01-06-2009, 11:43 PM dont forget that the free google earth photos are up to 5 years old. i looked up my house and found the pics were 4yrs old. they still had my skylights in the roof that i removed 4 yrs ago. and did not show my deck that was 3-1/2 yrs ago.

Ok now find a city with a street view. you can take a walk down many streets near me.
xjbry 01-07-2009, 12:51 AM Help I think my post got hijacked. UPS, google earth WTF!
jifaire 01-07-2009, 12:58 AM Ok, sorry. Back on topic.
SSDiesel sells them for $450, Medallion sells them for $300.
WTF?
xjbry 01-07-2009, 01:16 AM That was the original point without personally letting the cat out of the bag. Not to mention free shipping within North America. No UPS LOL
jifaire 01-07-2009, 01:30 AM Ah... IC
TedReminder 01-08-2009, 11:20 AM Medallion answered my email this morning. I asked where their injectors were made. They told me Canada.
Ted
xjbry 01-08-2009, 12:41 PM Take off EH! Find that hard to believe. Assembled maybe
yowmemperor 01-08-2009, 12:57 PM if that were true, then it sound like the bulk of the cost of the comparativly inexpensive 6.5 injectors is in spinning wheel charges... a set of new $50 injectors anyone? lol
DieselCash 01-08-2009, 02:04 PM Maybe just me but, I would stick with Bosch Injectors. I would also stick with someone that would back their warranty!!
Too me the warranty is the most important thing!
The good thing about the internet it is easy to find information on anything. But, how much of that information is full of crud? Not everything you find on the internet is true. Just because this business states that there injectors are from Canada, what proof do you have? Some businesses will tell you anything to make a buck! I recommend finding old customers that have 100% satisfaction with the stated company and the product!
Sometimes saving money equals getting a substandard product. but, not always! A good example would be Warpspeed! I have not yet seen a disappointed customer from warpspeed yet! They provide a good product that to me is very inexpensive.
Hmmm, maybe just me!
I would stick with a proven product, Bosch!
Wish you luck with your decision!
SteveKoz 01-08-2009, 05:51 PM Went out the Heath's site. $519 and $724 for HO's. They are listed as HDP brand? Does Bill have injectors made for him?
DieselPro 01-08-2009, 08:06 PM Lot of the China made injectors are coming thru Canada. Big importer up there.
TedReminder 01-08-2009, 08:18 PM Here is the email from medallion..

chevyinlinesix 01-08-2009, 08:35 PM Was that seriously the E-mail? huh, sure makes you wonder. I will E-mail them tonight and ask where they're injectors are exactly made, factory location and name.
rob17san 01-09-2009, 01:22 AM i thought this was a marine injector thread
Lot of the China made injectors are coming thru Canada. Big importer up there.
Nowadays that can be said of any Country. Leo
IamDave0887 01-09-2009, 06:18 AM Went out the Heath's site. $519 and $724 for HO's. They are listed as HDP brand? Does Bill have injectors made for him?
BIl Injectors are Genuine Stanadyne Injectors. I bought a set from him. The injectors came with the clampless return line kit and both turbo gaskets. Nice thing is if you have an injectors related failure, Bill Heath won't cut and run. Most ebay sellers finish the sale and thats it.
SteveKoz 01-09-2009, 08:15 AM Seems like an obvious question but I'll ask it anyway.. Do you loose MPG when using HO injectors? I'm getting 13-14mpg now which already sucks.. Looking for options to increase it.
MRBachand 01-09-2009, 08:28 AM Seems like an obvious question but I'll ask it anyway.. Do you loose MPG when using HO injectors? I'm getting 13-14mpg now which already sucks.. Looking for options to increase it.
Based on your sig, that mileage can all be fixed with a little more right foot control :)
HamOP 01-09-2009, 08:54 AM Looking for options to increase it.
What's your boost while cruising? >Boost = <MPG
Torque454 01-11-2009, 11:18 PM My mileage sucks too. 12.88mpg in town is what I figured tonight just a few minutes ago when I filled up again. 116 miles, 9 gallons of fuel added. Talk about mileage that sucks. I blame it on the 240,000 mile old injectors and timing chain.
