Hey all.

Just took possession of a new house with heated garage.

I have read here a few years ago that diesels and heated garages aren't great. Condensation building up in hte fuel tank.

What kind of problems am I looking at?

My dad has had his in a heated garage for the last 4 years in a heated garage and he has not had any issues. He keeps the fuel above half of a tank if at all possible, but other than that he has not done anything different. His garage is under his house so it is air conditioned also. He also keeps the vents to the garage closed off a little bit.

Really?

I was expecting something.

Keeping the temp low.

Going from (right now) -33C to 5-10C.

Moisture in electronic conections or something.......

Thanx guys.

No, everything will be fine, weatherpack connectors that the truck has are a nice conector, they use them all over, under the truck etc where they get hammered with everthing. if you are worried about it(no reason to!!) keep the tank topped off more often than not. I wish i could keep mine inside at night in the garage....darn kid and her toys..ok dads too......lol...

Something else to think about: If you live where they use road salt, warmer temps tend to speed up the corrosion process. If my truck is covered in salt, I leave it out in the cold if I can't rinse the salt off it prior to parking it in a warm garage.

Thanx guys.

If they use anything up here it is sand.

I think a dry and warm garage is the place your least likely to see condensation. And the worst for it is a non heated cement garage...trust me you should see the condensation we get on the motor blocks of the tractors.:(

Mine are parked inside at 62°f with radiant floor heat. Yes salt is active at those temps so I try to hit a Lazer wash whenever possible and do an under flush provided the roads are dry. Most look at my trucks and wonder how I keep them so clean and scale free underneath.

Dehumidifier is nice to pull out moisture from melting snow.

Thanx for the replies.

Mine is being kept at the lowest setting which might be down around 40 ish F.

They say that in a heated garage you will have moisture ( ??? most of the time) on the frame that will leed to early rusting? With a cold garage just have it plugged in. Lucky you to have a garage.:D

Suggest you keep as much fuel in the tank as possible, to reduce the moisture problem. You should be OK in the garage.

It would not be bad to wash it more often as the warmer temps will give the water and road salt a better chance at causing rust. None the less, i would rather deal anti rust than anti cold. Diesels HATE cold.

Mine's been in and out of my heated (70degrees) garage 1-2 times per day for 2 winters. No problems at all, which is good because I love it!

My truck has lived its whole life in my floor heated garage, I try to keep it around 10c in the winter.I dont do anything like trying to ceep the tank full.No problems at all. But my frame does look like shit.I live in Alberta near Reddeer. And its been cold this year!

So far what I seem to be finding is that the floor doesn't really dry up. And in looking through the wheel wells the frame and miscelaneous (sp?) hardware isn't drying either.

Kinda wondering about rust...........................
