i'm looking to replace stock steel/chrome wheels for an '02 Chv DA CC SB 4x 2500HD.
it is entirely stock. i'm seeing lotta H2 wheels avail. will those 8 luggers bolt right on? and more importantly... would 315-70R17 fit? or will that require a lift or something? expect any rubbing?
thanks.
anyone have anything with plenty of rubber on rims that i might be interested in for this truck?
Most of those H2 wheels are takeoffs. They are cast aluminum and quite heavy.
If you do a search, this was discussed quite intensively a while back.

i'll do the search... but real quick... what are takeoffs? you mean fake, or just 'taken off' a new h2 for upgrade? do you know if they would fit?
H2 take offs are just that, taken off an H2 hummer. 315/70s will fit your truck on these wheels with some craknign the t-bars if you like that and trimming the front bumper, tying back the e brake cable, etc.
i have a H2 wheel and tire for my spare, man are they heavy. took some weight to balance as well. that siad, they are a cheaper alternative and look decent. use to be able to pick these up cheap, but are getting more expensive.

can the aluminum non-chromed h2 wheels be powder coated black? how much should a coating shop charge to do wheels?

I'm hoping GM puts out some 18" OEM 8-lugs for '06. My Yukon XL could use a brake upgrade.
-P.
From memory, I think the H2 cast wheels are about 40 lbs each, whereas the stock PY0 wheels are about 18 lbs. each.

why wouldn't they have been balanced when you bought them? did you buy just the rim? it seems that the real savings come when you buy them mounted and everything.
i would guess that they are getting more expensive because demand increases from more awareness... and more importantly... h2's seem to have lost their appeal to those type of buyers. i'm not sure of exact #'s, but i've heard that the dealers are having a hard time giving them away now.
i think a set would be 700-800 now, and it seems that a lot of you guys had picked them up for 400-500 about a year ago. nice scoop.
the tire was mounted, but it was a spare off the hummer and not balanced so I had to get that done myself. not sure why it was not balanced before, maybe the dealership swapped tires/wheels and neglected to mount it. I picked up the tires a while back for $400 shipped, with less than 100 miles on them. No use for wheels as I had those already
