Ok, so I did an LOF yesterday and replaced my Delo 400 with M1 Truck & SUV. Based on posts I should be able to change the oil filter without a total swap-out of the oil to extend oil changes. The "stupid" question is, doesn't all or most of the oil drain out when you pull the oil filter? What happens?
Thanks!
Don

It's just like changing a filter on anything else don....Spin it off, spin the new one on...you might get a little oil spilled from what's in the filter itself, but it won't run out of the engine...
Now, if you had the motor running, that would be a much different story http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

You would prolly lose only a quart or so.
Kinda like doing the Ally spin on only bigger.

Most of the oil is in the pan which is lower than the filter mount flange.

Actually! You won't loose any. You will pump it out on purpose.:Nothing_f
