Help me Please!


I have a 95 2500 4x4 truck w/ 350 v-8. It has 244,000 miles on it and the tranny finally puked.

I want to put a new tranny in for the simple reason that the truck isn't worth a penny anyway, and I have a plow on it for my 400 yard driveway.

Does anyone know, (besides reading the vin #), how to tell what automatic tranny is in there? How many different styles are there?

I need this info for pricing!

If it has 8 lug wheels, it is the 4L80, 6 lug wheels means 4L60. Probably 4L80 just because it went so long, 4L60 doesn't usually last that long. 8 lug means 8600 GVW, 6 lug is light duty 3/4 ton.

Square pan= 4L60E, Rectangular pan with rounded back= 4L80E. Lugs don't always tell the story.
