Need help deciding between the Pioneer AVH-p4000dvd or the Kenwood ddx-512 dont want a nav system so it looks like these are the best for my money. Both are on sale for 500 from best buy.

I have had good luck with the pioneer systems.

I'm in the market to and placed order for the Kenwood because my friend just bought the Pioneer and after playing with it did not like the user interface. Looks outdated compared to the DDX512.
But don't get me wrong, my last unit was a Pioneer as well and they are both good.

I have a Pioneer Avic Z2 (upgraded to a Z3) and it has worked great so far.

The older Pioneer units, okay the older higher end(Z2/3, and other top AVIC) are awesome head units. The newer P4000 isnt all that great, the DDX512 is a nice unit. My buddy put one in his MadzaSpeed3 and its a very nice unit. Ive messed with it a lilttle and found it a bit simpler then the Pioneer simply cuz it doesnt mess aorund with Navi. And it sounded like you didnt want that anyways.

But go to a BestBuy or wherever and check them out, both should be displayed near each other and powered up for tryout. If you have an iPod and plan to use it, the Kenwood wins hands down to me, Ive seen one hooked up to both adn I like the Kenwood better. Good luck in choosing

That is probably the only gripe I have with my Pioneer, I wish the iPod interface was a little faster.
