Suspecting problems with a wastegate valve not opening at high boost.If truck downshifts into fourth gear at high speeds increasing engine rpm to 3,000 the engine lets out a smoke screen blinding following traffic.This condition has not set a MIL but has never been checked for a DTC.Am not able to move the waste gate valve lever manually by hand but have not disconnected the actuator linkage.Should the lever be movable by hand?Truck has had this condition since new and will use oil when this sudden increase in rpm occurs.What damage could be inflicted to the engine and other components by such a condition?Engine is a LB7 with 52,000 miles.

Disconnected actuator and wastegate lever moves freely.Helms manual says the MIL should light up if the boost sensor malfunctions.Have posted earlier about the smoke screen at the downshift scenario with no knowageable replies.Maybe there is a 2006 in the near future.:badidea:

100k warranty coverage..... just tell them it's emissions related......

Smoke screen is probably just built up soot. If it's soot the about the third time you do it you will notice a lot less smoke, assuming you romp on it all three times within about an hour or so.
