For those of you who remember that I was getting those "spurts" of power and kept having to purge air out of my fuel filter, well I noticed that whenever I got those "spurts", I noticed that my oil pressure gauge would start ticking around quickly, it would go from 15-40 and tick around from those two points.

I replaced the OPS a little over 2 years ago, would it really go out that fast?

Well I am going to replace it with one from Oreillys or Auto Zone and if goes out again, I will just have my lift pump on a switch by my ignition with a bright light so I dont forget to turn it off. Would I need a fuse to the switch if I run the wire directly from battery?

Im thinking of doing the same thing with my high idle, again, would I need to run a fuse before the switch? Its only 12 volts for the lift pump and I would assume much less for the high idle.

Just a story for ya, I hit "Black Ice" at 65mph right before going over a small short bridge and that took the boost to 20psi, who said stock turbos can't put out boost, then again I have a mechanical wastegate.

my first two OPS from autozone went out after a few months. I bought one from Kragen an it has lasted about two years.
Black ice huh. That stuff is scary. Lots of it where i was raised. My brother hit some right as a semi was going the other way and the wind from the semi in combination with the ice flipped him around into the oppesite ditch and totaled his truck.

If ??? it goes out again?
Get an AC/Delco. The aftermarket ones are as good as their thermostats for these beasts.
If you do go with a switch just put in place of the OPS connection - Already protected.

OReilly can order you the ACDelco.

Or you can get it online RockAuto is in Iowa somewhere, so it should be overnight.

Actually, you are lucky, some of them don't even last one day.

Read this one about those failing store brand OPS:
http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249105

Either keep replacing the OPS or there is a thread recently who showed us how to do it properly with a relay.

LOL, nope...I just pin pointed the area of concern on my drive back to Iowa the other day. I was still up in the air whether it was the OPS, Relay, Lift Pump or something else. But now I know.

Well I will see if Oreillys will order me the AcDelco one and go from there and have Ole Cheyenne back up and running the way she is supposed to be.
