What is involved in installing a factory DVD player in a truck that didn't come with one?

Too much work and cost for a factory dvd install just go aftermarket but not a cheap one. some thing more like a Alpine PKG RSE2 is a 10.2" screen.

I see them on e bay for around $200, are they self contained, just add 12 volts or does it tie in with the stereo?

Ya 12v constant swithched and ground. They usually transmit fm wireless. Not to bad to install in our trucks.

I think the headliners are different as well.

do you have a sunroof or not? The headliner is different, and there is a brace you need to install. You might be able to rig something up and make the factory headliner work though.

Putting one in my 06' CC, there is a brace missing above the headliner if there was no factory DVD, you pretty much need to install it or you have nothing to attach screen to. I got the part # off another GM truck web site. I am putting mine where the dome lights are and still needed to attach a bracket between the brace that was there and the one I installed to have something to attach unit to, otherwise just a roof skin up there.
