How important is it to have an extended warranty? The Engine has a 100K, Injectors are 200k (right?), I want to upgrade the transmission with a Suncoast IV. I have a 5 year 100K extended warranty, but the problem is it's by Warrentech, not a GM Majorguard. In my experience, anything other then the GM Majorguard tends to be a PITA to work with. I have no doubt that I could fix/replace pretty much anything on the truck, except maybe a computer since I don't have a Tech2 (yet). What's the Opinion of the Experts?

Injectors for your year truck in your sig is 100,000/5 year. It's 01-02 that have the 200,000 extension.

But, is it still 5yrs????

The extended warranty will cover everything else that is mechanical in the truck.

I had the ally go out at 36.6K and the stealer said bring it in and we will take it apart, and then let you know if we will cover it. NOT.........

Took it to Mike L. and had him do the Suncoast Level 3 with a Transgo kit.

My extended warranty covered it all, less $100 deductable.

Be sure, just as at the stealer, take ALL enhancements off the motor.

We had the extended warrenty through GM, but we cancelled it due to the mods we want to make. Tranny, lift, tires, shocks, the list goes on. None of this would be covered, and they could deny service if they wanted. For us, it was a waste of money.

At the time I bought the truck, I wasn't thinking about mods... but... you know...

I want to can the kitty, 5" exahust, fingerstick/EGR block. As far as I'm concerned, If I don't have to take it to the stealer again, GREAT!

The one I have is not GM, so if there was a way they would pay for someone (Eric would be preferred) to "rebuild" (SC IV) the allison if (when) some clutchpacks burn up, the 2100 I paid for it would be paid for right there... If it got voided later for Mods, oh well.

What's the average cost for an Allison rebuild at a stealer?
