warning warning, if you see a tanker at the fuel station dont fill up or put any fuel from the station in your tank. I saw a tanker unloading on the other side of the lot and I topped off my tank about 18 gallons. Just changed fuel filter for winter, usually last all winter, this on plugged after about 75 miles. Lucky me, I always carry a spare and a filter wrench. I got caught on the road at night in high wind and sleet, not good. Got fuel filter changed after much cold and cussing. warning warning

That long-standing advice applies to gas and diesel. My Uncle owned a Marathon station beginning in the mid-50's, he always said that the tanker stirred up sediment/water in the bulk tanks. Some filling stations have filters on each pump, no-one knows if the filter is working though.

I was going to say, isn't that what the filters are for??

And by the looks of some of the filters I have seen over the years, I would be willing to bet they have no filter element inside and have been in-service since the pump was installed.

Yeah I see most of the filters are so dirty on the outside that you can't even read the writing on them anymore.
