there is a pitman are puller that is made for pulling it. the last time i had to replace the arm on an IFS truck i had to take out the three bolts that hold the ps box on to get enough room to get the arm off.

I just put on the fabtech kit yesterday. The instructions said to take out the two bottom bolts holding the steering box on, and loosen the top. This allows it to pivot without kinking anything. Then the puller will fit right on. Make sure you slide the jaws under the rubber/plastic piece.

Some guys have a hard time with it and have to buy the $100 heavy duty puller. I hit up the pitman with CorrosionX a couple times the week before, and with the $15 autozone puller, and impact gun, and a breaker bar, mine came off without any problems. It was harder getting the centerlink off the pitman arm! My ball joint separator, a BFH, and some anger took care of that after a bit. :grd:

did my idler arm, no problems.

pitman arm 4 hours & counting, i pulled the steering box bolts, but doesnt swing enough, i bought the biggest fork i could find. not big enough to go around the shaft, i dont want mess up the splines. i got the puller on once & busted a 3/8 wratchet i cant get the shaft to point straight down. i also have the snow plow mounts in the way. looks like u have to pull lower aframe to access the bolt head. im not going to get that invovled with that.

this project has been one nightmare after the other with shocks, torsion keys, tires pitman & idler. figures the la st thing is going to be the mother of them all.
